SOPHIE

“Sophie, you look as beautiful as always,” Jacob remarked, his eyes not tearing away from me for the past thirty minutes.

I smiled, feeling a bit uncomfortable. “Thank you, Jacob. You look good too.”

“I’ve really missed you. You went aloof after your marriage. Nobody heard anything from you anymore. I'm sorry it didn't work out.”

My brows shot up in response. I batted my lids, giving Jenny a side-eye for telling him. I had clearly warned her never to tell anyone about my marriage. I needed everyone to think that I was still married; besides, I was still wearing my ring.
