He crept forward into the widening cavern, and I followed in his shadow, my hands gripping the fabric of his leather vest just to keep myself from screaming. We reached the lip of a large, vaulted underground chamber, and the full horror of the situation finally opened up before us.
The tunnel opened into a massive ravine split through the cavern floor, a black abyss yawning in the center of the room. On the opposite side was a partially collapsed, crumbling stone ledge, the exact place where Kaedryn was.
