Despite her being gone, I tried to push forward for the pack.

Caden didn’t knock—he never did. He just walked in like he owned the place.

“You’re brooding again,” he said flatly, arms crossed.

“I’m working.”

“You’re staring out a window with a report upside down in your hand.”

I didn’t respond.

He stepped further into the room, tone casual. “You know the patrol schedule’s all messed up, right?”

“I reassigned Landon. He’s better on north perimeter.”

Caden raised a brow. “That’s not what I meant. The others are starting to notice. You’re off your game.”
