I sat on the sofa and Levi sat opposite me.
"Are you sure you just went to someone? We are friends here, whatever your problem is our problem," said Levi.
I sighed. I can't tell him but my worry and fear will not go away if I am the only one who will bring this problem.
"I came home to sleep there because I miss them, so I was stunned when I saw that there was a policeman in the house with the Barangay Captain and a man I didn't know. They opened the door and broke it down to get in. I was pulled by someone who instigated the police to pressure me and put me in jail because I killed my family," I answered shaking my head.
Levi stood up.
"What are they crazy about? You can't do that because we are witnesses to how much you love your family. And I know you don't know them because you are a good person, you have never fought with anyone. There is a reason why everything happens of this, Nico, that's what we should know," said Levi.
"Yes, yes," I answered.
"For now you should rest first so that tomorrow we can plan properly to find out everything that happened," he said.
I nodded and entered my room. I immediately lay down on the bed and looked at the ceiling.
"You two help me solve whatever the reason is for your disappearance. It hurts, it hurts so much because I was not prepared for the loss of you two. If only I had known that was the day you would disappear, I wish I would have taken you to my office and waited for me there and we'll go home together. I don't want to believe right now that all of this happened because there is a reason, whatever that reason is, I won't accept it until I'm older. I love you both very much," I cried and said.
Until I fell asleep crying. On the other hand, Candice woke up early to prepare for entering the office. I am on site now and my duty will not be in the office. When I came out, I was met by the tight hugs of my mommy and daddy.
"What's wrong? Is the world about to collapse?" I asked jokingly.
"Nothing. We just want to show you our love even though we are all very busy. Always take care even though we will see you every day and be with you here at home," my dad answered with a smile.
"I love you two very much too," I said with a smile.
But, surprisingly, my parents' behavior is different now, as I don't want to go to work and stay home. I want to hang out with these two and go out to eat somewhere. But they both have jobs. After a few hours, we each went to work. When I was on the site, I felt so nervous that I couldn't rest but I tried to focus my mind on work, I might make a mistake today. So I breathed a sigh of relief when the afternoon came because I could go home right away. After all, I had a meeting to go to. So I didn't get home right away, it was late when Genevieve and I got home, I drove her to her house because she didn't have a car. So I overspread it. When I was outside the house, our gate was open. So I went straight in, my eyes widened when I saw that all our bases were broken. I immediately looked for my parents because I felt nervous as if a thief had entered our house. I went straight upstairs and into my parent's room. When I entered, I almost fainted from what I saw, they were both bloodied and lifeless hugging each other on top of the bed. I cried a lot.
"No! Who made it like this?" I shouted throughout the house.
I didn't come near, I just knelt near the bed and cried all over. I couldn't accept it I was shaking so much with fear and pain. Heartless people killed them and they will pay for what they did to my parents. Nothing has been lost, so everything is focused on my parents. I immediately hid under the bed when I heard something hit my chin. I put my two hands so that my crying would not make noise. I didn't make any noise, because maybe if they kill me, nothing will solve my parents' case.
"All of you split up and look in every corner of the house because I know it's right here. You saw her car outside the gate," said a male voice that was not familiar to me.
Trembling attacked my heart. It would kill us all if I went home early. All the men left except for one who ordered like a boss. I retreated because the man's feet came closer to the bed, I hoped he wouldn't look down at me because if he did, my happy days on earth would be over. Then I heard that his other colleagues went back upstairs so I didn't
move I try not to make any noise because I might be seen.
"Did you see?" the man asked his colleagues in annoyance.
"No boss. We're already searching the whole house, we can't find it," answered the man in a big voice.
"We don't have a choice. We can't say that we killed him because we might get scolded. Let's just report that he killed his parents so the law won't track us down," said the man, leaving in a hurry.
My tears flowed first. I don't know why I experienced all this. I don't want to go to jail for a sin I didn't commit, no one will get me out of there because my parents are gone. So I immediately came out from where I was hiding, and only now did I realize that someone was killing us and someone ordered those men. And that's what I want to know, I need to get out of here before the police come. I don't want to ask my parent's family for help because I know they are not okay with fighting over inheritance. So I immediately left the house and quickly ran away carrying my big backpack. All my things are inside as well as my card. When I passed by a clothing store, I bought a hat and a black jacket and immediately sent a taxi to Genevieve's house.
"What happened to you, Candice? Are you crying?" my friend asked in surprise.
I cried on his shoulders.
"They killed my parents, Gene. When I came home earlier from dropping you off, I didn't see anyone alive," I answered,
"What? Who? Thieves?" she asked.
"No, Gene. I don't know who it is, but it seems like a business opponent. You know the trend in the business world. Some insecure people come back to me, but I hid well so they will make it appear that I killed my parents," I answered.
"Oh, god," Gene said as she sat down.
"I don't want to be lacking, help me, Genie. Take my parents' remains from the house and cremate them," I ordered.
"Alright. I'll ask my acquaintances to help," she answered.
"When someone asks, say I ordered you because I can't go home in another country," I told her.
She nodded. She let me into her condo unit and then she left. While I was waiting I was restless, I wanted to know what happened to Genevieve's walk. She hasn't called yet. After some time she sadly entered the house. I stood up immediately.
