SERENA’S POV

As I slowly opened my eyes, the bright lights above made me squint. My head was pounding and I turned my head to see my mother sitting beside me, her face filled with worry.

"Darling, you're awake!" she exclaimed, gently taking my hand in hers. "How are you feeling?"

I gave a weak smile as I tried to sit up a little. "Fine," I croaked. My throat was parched.

Just then, another face appeared—Mr. Lodge.His usual cheerful expression was dampened with concern. "We were so worried about you, Serena," he said softly.
