Thea's POV
As I walked to Psychology this morning, I rubbed my hands up and down my arms. I assumed a long-sleeved sweater would be enough to keep the frost out of my bones, but as soon as I went outside, I realized I'd be freezing for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to go back and change, so I rubbed my hands up and down my arms for warmth.
Thea's dress
It was exceptionally cold today, and as I walked to class for my third day of college, I observed that everyone but me was wearing at least a coat, with some even wearing beanies and scarves. At least I'm wearing jeans.
By the time I got into Psychology, I was like a frozen popsicle. The warm air tingled my entire body as the building's heat flowed through me. I massaged my hands together to restore blood flow to my fingertips. I entered the lecture hall 10 minutes before class began, so there were more people than on my first day, Monday. Yesterday, I had Biology and Calculus, which were so boring that I almost fell asleep. Hopefully, we'll be learning more intriguing concepts in those classes.
As soon as I went into the room, I glanced about for an empty seat where I could sit without being antisocial but still seem like a member of the crowd. However, when I saw a familiar person waving at me, I couldn't help but smile. It was the person who lent me his pen. I walked down the aisles until I got to his. When I went closer, he patted the seat next to him, and I sat down. He donned a long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and a black beanie. "Hey, Pen Guy," I laughed as I realized I didn't even know his name.
He gasped and placed his palm on his heart. "I'm quite hurt! After saving your ass in this class, all I got was a hey? "I was expecting monetary compensation or coffee," he said, grinning. I lightly hit him in the shoulder, causing him to fall out of his seat and spread out on the floor. Everyone in the lecture hall turned around and stopped talking to look at the person who was causing the scene. "Oh, my God!" And you are violent. "What did I ever do to you?" he yelled, jokingly--or so I thought. I surely did not punch him hard enough to knock him to the ground.
"Crap! Sit down! "People are staring." I whisper-shouted at him, and he stood up from the floor and leaned down to murmur in my ear. "I'll stop if you promise to do me a favor."
A favor? Hot males only want sexual favors, which I will not provide.
"No. I don't even know you. Now, quit making a scene." Just as he was ready to respond, the teacher entered the side door and began preparing for the lesson. My gaze met his, and an evil grin spread across his face. He took a deep breath and was ready to raise his voice to embarrass me again, but I swiftly rose and placed my palm over his lips, blocking any sound.
"Fine! Okay, but you need to shut up right now!" I immediately said, hoping he wouldn't continue to attract attention. I despised audience attention and tried to avoid it by all means. Pen Guy smiled at me, exposing two adorable dimples on his cheeks. Making me almost forget that I had just committed to do him a favor.
"Great. "By the way, what is your name?" he inquired, reaching out his hand for me to shake. "Thea. And you? I can't call you Pen Guy for the rest of the semester," I say, making him giggle. "True. I am David.
As the lesson begins, I remove a pen and notebook from my backpack. I made sure to take at least two extras to avoid what happened the prior time. As I begin to take notes, David tosses twenty stray pens on my desk, some of which land on my lap, while others clank on the floor and resound across the room. The pupils in front of us turn their heads to give me a harsh look as the teacher briefly pauses her speech before continuing.
David gives me a what-can-you-do expression as he shrugs his shoulders. "What? I want to be a good buddy and ensure that you have all of the pens you'll require." I shake my head and murmur something about him being bothersome as I pick up the pens and place them in the front pocket of my rucksack. Although I appear offended and embarrassed on the outside, I enjoy David's sense of humor. Hopefully, we can become buddies.
When the lecture concludes, I pack my bag and say goodbye to David as I prepare to face the storm once more. Okay, I'm being dramatic, but it's quite chilly outside!
I get outside and start walking home when David grabs my hand and pulls me along the sidewalk with him. "Um, David? What are you doing?"
"You're doing me a favor, silly," he added, tugging me harder. My breathing quickened, and I quickly snatched my hand free of his clutches and began backing away from him. "No. I don't want... "I will not..."
David turned back to me; his brow furrowed. He approached me carefully as if he were attempting to calm down a fearful puppy. "I was just going to take you with me to get coffee." My jaw dropped open. "Oh..." How could I have been so wrong?
"What did you think I--Oh! Oh, my God, Thea! Did you believe I was attempting to—?" And then he laughed in my face. Not just a giggle, but a full-blown cackle that brought unwanted attention to me. When he had calmed down enough to breathe, he wiped the tears from his eyes.
"Oh my god, I haven't laughed so hard in a while. Thea, I am gay. I'm very gay and have a devoted connection with my boyfriend. How could I not know? I'm humiliated! Am I that arrogant to believe he was attempting to sleep with me? I'm committing myself to be more cautious about presuming what men want from me.
While I stood there, stunned, David proceeded to speak. "My boyfriend was concerned that I wouldn't make any friends at school, and because he doesn't attend college, he kept pestering me about having him drive me to courses. To get him to stop talking, I told him I'd already made a friend and would invite her to join me for coffee. He's also bringing another friend with him." I smiled at their adorable relationship. His boyfriend must be quite sweet.
"Well, I'd be honored to be your fake friend," I replied, upset that he was only bringing me to prove something to his boyfriend. "Bitch, you are already my best buddy here. You will not get rid of me now. "What if I need a pen?" he said, and I laughed at him.
When he informed me, we were meeting at Java, I became excited and told him I worked there and was hooked on coffee. He was just as obsessed as I was, and on the way to Java, I informed him about all of the different cocktails they served, as well as some of my favorite secret menu beverages. Just thinking about coffee warmed me up from the chilly outside.
As we came closer to Java, my gut tightened and my breathing increased. My stomach felt strange, almost as if I had butterflies flapping about within. Well, coffee will not help with that feeling, but no one can talk me out of additional caffeine!
