Maya stirred groggily, feeling the presence of someone beside her. She blinked her eyes open slowly, taking in the dimly-lit hospital room, the beeping of machines, the tubes and wires that were connected to her body.

She felt weak and sore all over, her body aching from the wounds inflicted by the group of rogue werewolves. But the ache that hurt her the most was the one in her heart, the knowledge that she had been betrayed by her own kind.
