Chapter Two: The Date

Maya couldn't stop thinking about Alex's confession. He was a werewolf, and she found herself both fascinated and terrified by the idea. She couldn't deny the attraction that she felt towards him, but she also didn't know how to reconcile that with his supernatural identity.

Despite her reservations, Maya agreed to go on a date with Alex. They met at a trendy restaurant in the city, and Maya couldn't help but feel underdressed in her jeans and blouse.

"You look beautiful," Alex said, standing up to greet her.

"Thank you," Maya replied, feeling a bit shy.

As they sat down, Maya felt a sense of ease wash over her. Alex was charming, and he had a way of putting her at ease.

"So, have you always been a werewolf?" Maya asked, sipping her water.

"No, it's inherited. My family has been werewolves for generations," Alex explained.

"That's fascinating. Do you have any special powers or abilities?" Maya asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.

"Well, we have heightened senses and physical abilities. We also have the ability to transform into wolves during the full moon," Alex explained.

Maya felt a shiver run down her spine at the thought of a pack of werewolves running through the forest.

"It sounds scary," Maya said.

"It can be, especially when we're not in control. But we've learned to live with it," Alex said, taking a sip of his wine.

As they ate their meal, Maya couldn't help but feel drawn to Alex. He was handsome, successful, and he had a secret that made him even more intriguing.

"So, what do you like to do in your free time?" Maya asked, trying to change the subject.

"I like to read, hike, and spend time with my family. We have a tight-knit pack," Alex explained.

"That's sweet. I come from a big family too, but we're not as close," Maya said, smiling.

As they finished their dessert, Maya felt a sense of sadness wash over her. She knew that a relationship with Alex would never be easy, especially with his secret identity.

"Maya, I know that my secret can be overwhelming. But I want you to know that I care about you. If being a werewolf is a dealbreaker, I understand," Alex said, looking at her intently.

"I don't know what I want yet, Alex. But I appreciate your honesty," Maya replied, taking a deep breath.

As they walked out of the restaurant, Alex took Maya's hand. She could feel his warmth and strength, and she knew that she was in trouble.

As they made their way to the car, Maya felt a strange sensation wash over her. She felt like she was being watched, and she couldn't shake the feeling.

"Alex, do you feel that?" Maya asked, looking around.

"Feel what?" Alex asked, furrowing his brow.

"I don't know. It's like someone is watching us," Maya said, her heart racing.

Suddenly, they heard a growling sound, and Maya felt a sense of panic. She looked up and saw a pack of wolves emerging from the shadows.

"Oh my god, we need to get out of here," Maya said, pulling on Alex's arm.

Alex wrapped his arms around her protectively as they ran towards the car. Maya could hear the frantic beating of her heart as they climbed into the car and sped away.

As they drove through the winding roads, Maya felt her adrenaline beginning to subside. She looked over at Alex, and she could see the fear etched on his face.

"What were those wolves?" Maya asked, feeling a sense of dread.

"I don't know. They weren't part of my pack," Alex said, his voice shaking.

As they arrived back at Maya's apartment, Alex walked her to the door.

"Are you okay?" Alex asked, cupping her face in his hands.

"I think so. That was terrifying," Maya said, looking up at him.

"I'm so sorry that I put you in danger. I should have known better," Alex said, kissing her forehead.

"It's okay, Alex. I just don't know if I can handle your secret," Maya admitted, feeling tears prick her eyes.

"I understand, Maya. But please, don't let this scare you away. I care about you too much to let it end like this," Alex said, his eyes pleading.

Maya could feel her resolve crumbling, and she knew that she couldn't resist him any longer.

"Okay, I'll give us a chance," Maya said, leaning in to kiss him.

As they kissed, Maya could feel the electricity between them, and she knew that her life would never be the same again.
