Third POV
“I’m really happy tonight.” Riana giggled as she intertwined her hands even more with Cameron’s own as they made their way towards the hall for the dinner gala they organized to make their secret marriage. All of the royal family members got to be in attendance, getting tongues wagging.
So many people thought they would be the first to kick against this marriage since Cameron was first married to Estella.
The truth was they loved Riana and couldn't kick against whatever she did.
Riana was dressed like a queen, accompanied by her man, Cameron. Both looked like the real king and queen, then entered the hall amidst flashes of cameras from the reporters that were invited to cover the event.
Cameron's phone had most of his colleagues from the business world sending in congratulations and a happy married life even when some of them were not actually in support of this marriage. They just wanted to maintain good business terms with him seeing how successful he was.
“Why aren't you replying to any of them?” Riana asked.
“What's there to reply to?” Cameron replied coldly. He replied in a cold tone sending mixed signals to Riana. “Come on, congratulations is nothing new.”
Meanwhile at the hospital, Estella woke up for the third time sobbing. Her eyes were cloudy that she couldn't see, the moment she cleared her eyes and raised them up, she was shocked by who she saw.
“Dr Adrian?” Her lips hung open. She quickly wiped her remaining tears, feeling ashamed crying before such a handsome man. Slowly she realized her worth. Adrian isn't just a doctor but a boss. Her boss!
This reality hit her right in the head.
“Sir?” She muttered even before she got to think of it.
Adrian turned towards the doctor behind him and the nurses, his face held a question mark, his lips pulled apart to utter the question but he couldn't just ask. Confused, he returned his gaze to Estella.
“I'm sorry, but you're my boss.”
Adrian gave a signal to the rest in the room to leave. They bowed and turned right away to exit the room. Now alone with Estella, the tension in the room heightened.
“Why di-d you come back?” Estella stammered, avoiding a gaze with Adrian.
“I heard you fell unconscious again upon seeing your husband, I mean ex,” he said with much emphasis on the ex. “--Is coming public with his secret wife, that's your twin sister.”
“But this has nothing to do with you?” She asked, upon hearing no response, she swallowed the saliva in her mouth. “I'll be fine, even when I have no one now. I'll take care of myself.”
“I can take care of you!” Adrian snapped. It's quite certain he didn't even think of this before saying it out.
“Huh?” Estella nearly throws up as she's struck with nervousness.
Just then the door sprang open and a different doctor came in.
“Doctor, we need your help now. You've exceeded your break to come see your first patient–”
“So he took a break to come make sure I'm fine?” She couldn't believe this. As Adrian was about to leave the room, he turned back to her once more.
“Get well soon. Be strong! I care about you.” His last words got her really strong, she tried mumbling some words in response.
Out of anger, she picked her phone, this time not to check if Cameron had called her or not.
“You’re the worst thing that could ever happen to a woman who loves you genuinely. I'm really happy we're divorced now, it has paved the way to see someone a hundred percent better than you.”
Cameron happened to check his WhatsApp the exact time she sent this message. Seeing this, his heart skipped, he folded his lips and immediately excused himself, storming to the restroom.
Riana followed right after him, sensing that everything was not alright.
“What’s wrong baby?” Riana caught up with him before he could get into the male's toilet. “Tell me what's wrong?” She grabbed his shoulders looking straight at his eyes.
“It’s Estella.” He mumbled her name with a shaky voice.
“What's with her?” Riana asked with curiosity. News about her recovery was kept a top secret from the public, including Cameron and Riana upon seeing they didn't even call to ask how she was doing. So hearing her husband mention Estella, Riana was dumbfounded.
“Is she alive?” She asked.
“I'm shocked as well,” Cameron replied absentmindedly.
“No! This can't be true. Let me see what she sent.”’She snatched the phone from Cameron, peering into the screen while reading the message. “This can't be her, it must be someone using her phone right now.”
Cameron stared at Riana curiously. “What? Do you mean it?”
“Yes, of course.” She replied with steady confidence. “No one has ever been known to survive the chemical I sprayed on her.” This pulled Cameron's mind more into believing this.
“We'll find out who's messaging with her phone,” she assured Cameron who now fully believed her. “It must be a doctor or a nurse who hates us.”
“It's not significant, don't let that ruin our party.”
Despite believing and trying to forget about this, Cameron was puzzled why he still felt uneasy. His eyes were tempted to stare at the text.
“Come on, I’m sure it’s nothing. We’ve got each other now. There’s no doubt I am the perfect one for you. Even the world is happy for us. Let’s go in now. You don’t want us to be late for the event.”
Cameron tucked his phone in his pocket. Riana clogged onto his arm as though her life depended on him and then they made their way into the event all.
Throughout the event, Cameron couldn't stop thinking of Estella’s message, it looked so real to him despite what Riana said. He couldn't wait for the event to finish so he would have some time to himself and probably call Estella herself. For the rest of the event, he was absent minded.
