ERIC’S POV

When we left my late father’s chamber, everyone was quiet and deep in thought. My mother had become an emotional wreck. She could barely even walk on her own. The maids had to support her.

Seeing her in such a weak state, I didn’t press her further for answers and explanations on why they abandoned and never bothered looking for me all those years. She wasn’t in the right state of mind to speak let alone answer questions. Even though the urge burned within me, I had to restrain myself.

She had mentioned a lot of things: My father’s body will be taken away later in the evening...
