I didn’t know what came over me. But I couldn’t just stand there and watch him hurt her. I hated seeing her hurt. I hated seeing her cry. I hated seeing her in pain. So I intervened.

My hand moved on its own to hold Nolan’s wrist, stopping him from digging her face into the bowl of mashed potatoes for the third time. I mean, who the fuck does that? Who on earth punishes someone like that just because they refused to eat? Who on earth tortures or punishes people the way he does? No human being should be allowed to experience that amount of pain.
