My eyes fluttered open to the gentle glow of the sun pouring through the small window, its golden rays spilling across my face. I brought my hand over my face to shield the invading rays, rubbing my eyes gently and twisting my body till my drowsiness dissipated and my vision adjusted to my surroundings.

The softness of the sun's rays and the chirping of the birds outside let me know it was early in the morning, just a little after dawn, I think. I had slept for a really long time, or rather, we had slept for a long time.
