There was a knock on our bedroom door.
I was on my bed, working on my Mac book that was placed on a
portable, foldable table on my bed.
I turn to Aliya, who was on her bed in a deep sleep. I look at the clock, at my bedside. It was midnight, who'd be there at our door this late?
There was a knock on the door again.
"Who is it?" I asked, but no one answered.
Everything went silent.
"Is anyone there?" I asked again, but still no answer.
There was dead silence.
Perhaps it was a misunderstanding. Maybe my ears are ringing.
I shrug it off and get back on my Mac book.
Everything was silent for a while, but a while later there was a knock again,
but this time it was on the wall.
I ignore the knock and get back on my Mac.
Suddenly the knock turned into a loud thud on a wall. It was downstairs.
The bang on the wall suddenly became louder. It was on our wall again.
"Who is it!?" I yelled this time.
I immediately get up from my bed, slowly creep to the door and opened it
slightly.
I pop my head out and stare at the long, dark hallway. Our room was at the
end of the hallway.
I take a deep breath, encourage myself and step outside the room. I slowly
walk all the way through the dark hallway, and in a while, I see myself
standing at the starting of the hallway by the stairs.
I focus, and try to listen to the sound.
I wait for a while, as I don’t hear anything, I turn to walk back to the
room.
As I turn, I hear the sound again, the bang on the wall.
This time it was coming from downstairs.
I gulp, and silently and slowly walk downstairs. A chill run through my spine, as I reach the ground at the end of the staircase.
I gaze around the large, dark living room. Not even a single beam of light
could be seen. I silently stand at the end of the stairs, frozen.
Then suddenly I hear the loud bang on the wall again.
I gasp and turn to my right. My heart starts to pound out my chest, breathing heavily.
I embrace myself and slowly start walking at the right of the staircase.
The wooden floor creaked, as I walk through the dark hall.
There was a room at a distance. I turn on the lights of the room, and
slowly open the door.
I could hear my heart beating out of my chest and the sound of my breath
increasing.
I open the door and take a look around the room, a pretty chandelier hanging
down the ceiling that emitted yellow light.
I take a complete, clear and proper look around the room one last time before
leaving.
I close the door and switch off the lights of the room.
As I walk out the room, I find myself back in the dark hall. I slowly start
walking ahead of the room by the wall, running my hand on the wall as I walk.
I keep walking, but suddenly stop, as I feel a slight gap in the wall. It
was as if the gap was covered with the wallpaper, but the wallpaper was cut
open.
I stick my fingers between the gap, and try to open it.
I stick my fingers of both of my hands through the gap, and pull it with
full force, to the left.
I apply full force, but fail to open the gap. I stop for a second, then start again.
I kept trying, until the wall slid open.
Once the gap was half open, I started pushing the wall to the left.
Finally I slid open the wall, and reveal a secret room in the wall.
I step inside. There were two steps going down, and right in front of me was a door to the room.
As I walk to the door, I could see multiple door locks on the outside of the
door and a warning sign hanging on top of the door.
The locks were open.
As I turn the door knob, to my surprise the door opened.
I walk in the room and flick the light switch on, a single light bulb in the centre of the room turned on.
Even though the light was on, the room was still too dark.
The room was small, creepy and stuffed with multiple creepy objects.
Aisle of dark wooden shelves were lined straight, and at the end of one aisle a mannequin stood with a half broken face.
I walk at the end of the aisle, closer to the mannequin, it’s stare creeping
into my soul.
I start walking to by the shelves, examining them all, going through all the
creepy things that were placed.
As I walk, I walk pass a monkey with a wide creepy smile and eyes wide open. It was holding a drumstick, with a drum fixed between its hand and legs.
Suddenly a chill run through my spine as I stare into his eyes.
I continue walking, and examine the whole room as I end up at the end of the
last aisle in the room.
There was a dusty piano placed by the wall.
I run my over the piano, and press one or two of the piano tiles.
It made a loud weird rusty sound, as if it was too old inside.
As I turn back to leave, I see a figure standing right in front of me.
I gasp and walk back, but it was the end of the room.
The figure was of a girl, wearing full white gown. It had long dark hair that
covered its face.
Suddenly my heart started to race, and I started breathing heavily. The air
around me turning cold.
I stand froze right there, unable to move a muscle of my body.
I keep staring at the figure, unless it slowly started walking towards me.
I started breathing more heavily, and my eyes getting wide in fear.
I encourage myself, and start running towards the door at my left.
I sprint out of the room, but as I was about to walk out of the wall, my hair
got stuck into some pointy thing.
I felt as if someone grabbed my hair.
I turn around to see that my hair got stuck to the nail sticking out the wall.
I panicked so much, that I started pulling my hair from the nail.
I was pulling my hair hard, to escape, but I kept failing. Suddenly I heard
footsteps rushing down the stairs.
I thought it was the same girl, I saw in the room.
My heart started racing faster, and I started pulling my hair as fast as I
could. The more I pulled my hair, the more it got tangled in the nail.
I turn to look into the room, and the girl was standing right there, at
distance, in pitch darkness, her gaze wrenching my soul.
Only her dark shadow could be seen.
My whole body turned pale, my legs started trembling in fear, and my hands got cold. I was standing right there, frozen.
The girl started to move slowly, making her way to me.
I gasp and instantly start to untangle my hair, faster than before.
"C'mon c'mon c'mon" I mutter under my breath. "Please come on."
"COME ON!"
My heart getting out of control, pounding out of my chest so fast that I
couldn’t feel it.
As I almost freed my hair, suddenly the lights came on and I find myself
standing in the living room.
The whole room was lit up.
I look around the hall in surprise. I turn back to see Aliya standing in
surprise, staring at me.
She stood there in complete shock.
"What on earth are you doing here?" She asked.
I suddenly gasp in air and start breathing, when I finally realized that it was her, I could feel my heartbeat going normal.
“What are doing here at midnight?” She said, walking closer to me.
I just stare at her in silence, my body still numb.
"Relax Sarah. What happened? Why are you so pale?" She said taking my ice cold hand.
"What." I said, but it came out into a whisper.
"There was someone in there." I said pointing to the wall on my left.
"There is no one in here.” She said looking around. “Let’s go to bed.” She
said, taking my hand and walked me to the room, turning off all the lights behind her as she walked.
