Chapter 3 the clash

Chapter 3 the clash

“ Please don’t hurt me!” Ava screamed at the top of her lungs. They ran around her as they circled her. Gritting their teeth as puffs of smoke exited their angry. Ava was scared shitless because she had never gotten a close encounter with angry wolves, though she knew she had unknown enemies. She could somehow hear them converse.

“ Guys let’s finish her off!”

“ No, not yet, she has to suffer first”

“ No guys don’t touch her yet”

The one who had lots of resentment towards her gritted his teeth glared at her and charged towards her.

“No! No! Please help me” then suddenly she jerked up. She was swimming in an ocean of sweat and she was greatly hyperventilating. She was more than happy that, this was a dream but you know what they say about dreams. They are a glimpse into the future.

She throws off the blanket and heads to her mother’s room but she has a rethink. What If it was just her nerves again because she has been stressed lately thinking about the transitioning ceremony since it was tomorrow. She then made a detour to the fridge to get a glass of water.

“ Just my nerves,” she said thinking aloud while gulping down the colorless liquid. After that, she developed some sort of insomnia and flopped down on the sitting room couch. She Switched on the TV and looked for the remote to reduce the volume. Something to keep her busy while she loses her sleep.

She didn’t watch TV for long before she was stolen by sleep. On waking up the first person she sees is her uncle, Luke. He staring intently. She jumps.

“Uncle Luke, stop doing that, you know you could give someone a fright” she rubs her eyes while looking for her cell phone.

He chuckles. “. Hey Av, good morning. Don’t mind me I was just wondering why you had left your bedroom for the sitting room in the middle of the night”

“Did you stay the night” Now is her turn to stare intently

“ No! No! not that I slept over or something— he runs his head over his hair— I left your house late because I was talking to your mum about your TC training. You know security has to be top-notch because TCs are dangerous too.

She has never seen uncle Luke look uneasy but at the mention of the word TC, Ava remembers her dream and she shudders.

“Uncle, does my mother still want me to go for the TC training?” She please with her eyes.

“Of course Ava you are going, because it is Paramount for your transition.”

Ava took her bath and jumped into hideous-looking pajamas. The school has been ruled out already the moment her uncle mention the TC. At the back of the house, she couldn’t concentrate as she went on a little kickboxing. She tried so hard to concentrate but her hands were shaking like that of a leaf. Her emotions were heightened that she mistakenly smashed her mirror in the bathroom. It felt like every single thing close to her was up against her. She finally gave up and crawled into bed. Cocooned into her gigantic blanket. She wanted to sleep but it felt like was suffering from chronic insomnia. She just couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was about to go wrong. Suddenly her phone rang and she jumped.

She peered into it and it was Celia.

“Hey babes what’s up,” Ava said in a sing-song voice.

“ Hey alpha, how are you doing, who do you think you are fooling”

“ No C, nothing is wrong” Ava chuckles.

“ Ava Spit it out, I know something is wrong”

“ Alright you win,” Ava said sighing.

So she went ahead to tell Celia, then Hallie joined up in the call. They gave Ava a pep talk on girl power. They also promised that they would tell their pack members to look out for her. They also told her that they had new gist since she was not in school today.

They ended the call with girly laughs. The call from her friends not only calmed her down but also lightened up her mood. She started going through her closest to look at the new clothes her mother had gotten her, before watching some movies on Netflix.

The night had an agreement with the day that they would delay the rising of the sun, that night. For indeed this night would be a long one, not just for Ava but for the other yet to be turned werewolves and for the transitioning werewolves. As Ava crouched to the ground, she could see the transition ceremony as the eyes of the transitioning Lycans shone in the dark, even though everywhere was pitch black. The air is been filled with the sound of howling wolves that are in pain, as their bones snapped like pencils, their nails turned to claws, their clothes were ripped off their body and the animals screamed out in pain as they turned to beautiful white, black or brown wolves.

At each corner were the members of different clans as they watched their members transition into wolves. It was indeed a glorious sight to behold. During the TCs, the yet to be turned Lycans who were in human form were advised to stay far away from the ceremony parameters for their safety. The history of transitioning ceremonies was dated as back as 1800, when a newly turned werewolf attacked, a yet to be turned lycans, biting off his head and killing him in the process. Now, this was not intentional because immediately a werewolf turns, every emotion is heightened, especially hunger and anger. The werewolves never know the extent their actions have others until the following morning after they might have turned. That is why it is encouraged that family or someone quite stronger is present during transitioning to serve as a form of control.

Also if a werewolf ends up killing anybody while turning, he would be stripped of his heir title, that is if he was going to be the alpha and he would be banished from clan to the enemy zone, to be a wandering lycan. Of which if they do not find food fast or they get seen by a human, they could die of hunger or risk being darted to death by a wolf’s bane gun, which contained the most poisonous liquid to the whole of lycanthropy.

Ava watched on, seeing as the families of these werewolves were around them, to hold them if they get uncontrollable. She saw as the wolves in Celia's pack, the Tusks were trying to hold off a transitioning lycan. They bit him till he recognized himself and calmed down. All of a sudden a lycan took off into the woods.

With their inner communicating power, she saw her mother look back at her, and asked Jeff and Jake to keep an eye on her. And she also asked Ava if she was alright but before Ava could respond, Suddenly the werewolf that ran off emerged again and ran up the hill and started to chase a yet to be turned werewolf

This act caused a lot of pandemonium as wolves and people like Ava were running to safety. The different pack members followed the werewolf to stop him but he was not only strong but he was the fastest. The moment they couldn’t hear the voice of the young yet to be turned werewolf screaming out for help, they knew instantly that something grave had happened. When they finally caught up with him, they found the head of the girl, all bloodied up and he kept running with the body parts he could get away with. They ran after him to retrieve her body for her clan, for a burial. They couldn’t just banish him because he had just killed the alpha to Hallie's clan and pack, the dudes.

His punishment was nothing else but death. As this was going on, other clans decided to go to their dwelling. A headcount was done for the five packs. It was going on as smooth as it could until Mariah howled out at the mountain and the people of the flawless clan gathered around. That was when they found out the reason for Mariah’s pain. Ava was missing.
