Katherine's Pov
A knock came out to distract my thought from that terrible nightmare I had had. I reluctantly went for the door and there was my Dad. I rolled my eyes immediately after my gaze caught up with his.
It wasn't that I hated him or something, it was just I didn't like his idea of sending me to England to continue my studies. This is where I was born, the same place I have been brought up. And it was still where I wanted live but he wouldn't listen.
Well, he actually did agree to this until another report of me was revealed to him. And I hate that teacher up to now, for some reason that teacher didn't like me but Dad was one of his biggest.
"Honey, you've got to calm down, your teacher wants the best for you when he's consistently on your matter, take no offense." After my Dad had said that, he would successfully pass by you, hoping I have heard it and was forcefully going to comply with it.
And most of the time he was right, I would find myself complying with whatever he said.
He bypassed me into the room and then sat on my bed without invitation. I shook my head slowly and then closed the door. He was coming to discuss the same thing I had no or less interest in.
I crossed my arms on my chest and leaned against the door.
"Honey,"
"Yes, Daddy…" I responded softly like the good daughter ever existed.
"How are you feeling this morning?"
"Ah…I don't know, I guess I am fine. I just had this terrible nightmare and it's eating me up but I will be fine."
"Yeah, I guess it's your wild behaviors at school that's making you have terrible nightmares. Speaking of which, you are leaving for England today, so start packing."
"Is that why you came, Daddy? Do you think sending me to England is going to help me rather than being here under your shelter and protection? Is that what you think would best help your daughter?"
He gritted his teeth and turned to a position where he could see me properly.
"Hey, darling, I want what's best for you, you know that."
"Well, I am sorry, but I don't. What's best for me is staying with you and everybody else. What's so difficult about this to understand?"
"You've got to calm down and listen to me. I don't want this future for you, I have grown enough and I know the world more than you do. Honey, I don't want you to end up being a gangster in the future, please."
"Oh, so then I guess that's why you are sending me to England—to groom me to be a Princess or a queen one day, isn't it?" I shook my head and kept staring at him while he sat still like a rock.
"One day you are going to understand and thank me, darling."
"Forget it, that's never going to happen, I hate your decision so much, and if you really want to keep me as your daughter then tell me you have changed your mind. Otherwise, you are telling me you don't love me."
"It's only a father that loves his child would wish her well."
"I don't you understand, I don't want the life you want for me."
"Well, you had the chance to prove to me you could stay here but you disappointed me every single time. Katherine, I'd like you to pack your suitcases. I will be waiting and please go downstairs for breakfast." He said and then got up.
"Are you leaving me, Daddy? We are not done talking about this, please don't do this to me."
"We are done talking, darling and it's what it is." He shouted back at me as he quickly descended the stairs. I closed the door, climbed my bed, and curled under the sheets.
Several knocks came at the door but I turned a deaf ear. I didn't want to talk to anyone especially if it was my father. I was afraid going there alone could mean my life was going to be tied to some strange evil spirit whatsoever.
"Katherine, stop being childish and open the door."
"No, I'd rather die than go to England. I wanna attend college here, if you want me to commit suicide then you can continue pressing me." I replied to him while I buried myself in the bed.
"Stop having childish thoughts, you are 19 for Heaven's sake. I am telling you that you are not committing suicide and you are leaving for England this afternoon. Open the door or I will break it."
Why was he suddenly sounding like the man from my nightmare? Was he being possessed or something? "Oh fuck!" I cursed loudly and reached out for the door.
"What the fuck do you want this time around?"
"Language, Katherine." I parted my lips as I searched into my Dad's eye if I would notice something. There was nothing in there, it was just his natural hazel eyes.
"This is why I want you to leave, you are a full woman who could get married anytime soon. You can't be speaking like a gangster —shit, fuck, fucken…you know, those. Honey, that's what I want you to realize."
He stepped closer and held either side of my shoulder. His eyes entwined intimately into mine.
"What are you going to teach your children if you have one? How are you going to rebuke them if they happen to assume your attitude?"
"You can give me all the emotional, and psychological what what advice you have conjured up in your head. Daddy, I am not changing my mind, it's here I wanna be."
He elevated his brows and sighed in defeat. Well, I was sorry for not being the kind daughter he wanted. I didn't want to be a princess or a queen type of person.
"Come to the table and eat, please for this last time. I want to keep that this last memory and I made your favorite food, shall we?"
"After you, ather." He went out and I followed. The table was set and well, I should compliment my Dad as the best chef in the whole world.
He pulled a chair for me and I settled down in. I faked a smile as I began to dig my fork into the plate of egg omelets. He did not speak and I was so grateful, I didn't want to argue over breakfast.
We finished eating and I packed the plates, you know, it was very democratic. He cooks and I clean—fair enough.
"Ate you going somewhere?" I asked as I saw him leaving the living room with his car keys.
"I am going to get you a surprise that I would um, remind you of me anytime you saw it."
"Come on, I thought we finished talking about this already? Why are you being so difficult, Dady? I am pleading with you, please, I would do whatever you ask of me. My heart doesn't like this England idea, please."
"I gave you that chance, didn't I? And what did you do? You messed it up, you kept behaving wildly like a guy. How many female pals do you have, none, because they are afraid of you. We are not talking about this again. Getstuffstuffs ready before I return. And do not, I repeat, do not try anything stupid, do you understand me?"
He waited for what seemed like an entity and when he realized I wasn't going to answer him, he asked again, emphasizing each word.
"I said do you understand me, Katherine?"
"I do, father," I replied and tears started to roll down my eyes. I ran away from his presence as he attempted to touch my face.
I guess nothing was going to make him change his mind. I heaved as huge as the city as I finally closed the door behind me in the bedroom.
I wasn't going to commit suicide or do anything foolish to myself. I was going to live and get through this. I was going to live my dad's dream of becoming a princess Lady.
I brought my suitcase and furiously stuffed my things inside it. Afterward, I sat down on the bed waiting for him. My heart raced immediately after I heard his call pull over.
I quickly walked to the window and he was the one, opening the door to get inside and fetch me away into my terrifying endless nightmare.
