“What’s happening?” Leonard asked, noticing the worry etched on my face.

I ignored him, fear bubbling in my chest as I redialed my dad’s number. It rang, but the call didn’t connect.

My fear intensified, my mind racing with endless possibilities.

“Hey, calm down, please,” Leonard said, reaching out to me, trying to comfort me.

“My dad... I need to get home. Something’s wrong—I don’t know what it is,” I said, my words tumbling out chaotically.

“Eve, take a deep breath. Breathe in and out. Everything will be fine. Just get ready,” he said calmly before stepping out of the room.
