My focus went numb as I tried to catch her falling figure, and she collapsed to the ground.
“Evelyn,” I called, but she was too weak to respond.
I scooped her into my arms and hurried downstairs. Mr. Wyatt’s eyes widened in fear when he saw us, but I kept a calm expression.
“It’s okay. She’s just overstressed. Please, I’d appreciate it if you could look after the kids,” I said, rushing past him. Without wasting time, I headed to the garage and drove straight to the hospital.
