Chapter 3

The MythBuster

Life has a peculiar way to unveil things, and me bombing in Klein was nothing less than that. Though I never envisioned him to be my companion to conquer or complete any Herculean task, at this moment he is my savior, my only source to reconnect with Michelle. I was kind of lost in my thoughts as soon as the name MythBusters popped out of Klein’s mouth. Klein snapped his fingers to recall my attention.

“Are you lost somewhere?”

Gathering back my thoughts I responded, “Hey, no… nothing man. I was kind of curious when I heard the name MythBusters. So what's your role in it?”

With a grin Klein moved closer revealing his phone. He unlocked certain icons in his phone in showed a camera option to me. I eyeballed it dumbstruck. He started to focus on a corner area and directed me to look through it. I sensed it was not a regular phone camera. It had an infrared lens with custom built options. I gazed at him startled.

“Who the hell are you, really”

Klein busted into a ridiculous laughter and elucidated his key role in MythBusters, “I didn't intend to scare you. I was rallying you through what I do. So basically, I am a Ghostbuster. Or you can say that I am a hunter of truth. I could detect any sort of paranormal activity with tools like this.”

For a moment, I felt hysteric. Am I hallucinating? Or is this in real? Klein effortlessly looked through my mind and threw some truth bombs, just like Michelle.

He explained, “I totally get what you're thinking. Sometimes our eyes may be the greatest trickster ever. What we see may not be what it is. The universe is filled with enormous myths and mysteries. What seems to be real, maybe a game which your mind plays with you.”

Unexpectedly, the train started to honk indicating the resume of my journey. Mercifully, it broke off the conversation which was messing up my mind. In my attempt to ingeniously divert our topic of discussion. I said,

“Oh, the engine is moving now. Let's enjoy the journey in our respective seats. We'll catch up in La Grangeville, chao,” I concluded our chitchat and went back to my seat.

The train resumed again and it was a sign of relief for me. But his words were taking a trail in my mind. Somewhere, his words were evoking my thoughts about Michelle. Immediately I grabbed my phone and dialed Michelle. It was still unreachable.

“Am done with this girl, how do I know about the whereabouts of her current location?”

Then, it hit me, I could have inquired Klein about Michelle. It somehow slipped from my mind. I can't blame myself, his obnoxious oratory about myth and supernatural forces were intoxicating my thoughts. Michelle also shares the same thought patterns just like him, but it never annoyed me. A vague thought about her instilled a smile on my face. It invoked several thoughts in me. We have been together since our school days and were never apart this long.

I deeply miss her smile. I wish if I could confess my love to her, if ever I expressed my feelings, I know how she would respond. She would taunt me by comparing me to all the masculine beings alive in the universe. Ultimately, who knows her deeply like I do? Do I really know her? It wouldn't be wrong if I presumed that she knows me in and out. And I know her till she wants me to. She was mysterious, badass and gutsy. In a world of rules and obligations, she was spontaneous and carefree. She lived by her rules, and no one could curb her wings and when her dream organization tried to tangle with her rules, she never tolerated and gifted them her departure, but it couldn't cage her or her passion. In a twinkling of an eye. She became a successful blogger with enormous followers. She was indeed a wizard of different topics, and no one could ever challenge her expertise. MythBusters was just an upshot of her truth Buster journey, or initiative to associate with all the truth busters from the nook and corner of the world to unleash the hidden truths scattered across the globe.

I lost track of time with my trip to the memory lane and was drowsy. Sleep was carrying me with it until I sensed a vibration in my chest pockets. It disrupted my sleep. Quickly I checked the phone and saw the name Miss Cox on display.

“Oh, finally Michelle got my message.”

I picked up the call and yell at her, “Where the hell are you Michelle? How many times have I tried calling you?” my temper had a little effect on her.

Michelle replied as cool as a cucumber, “I'm awaiting you at La Grangeville.”

Her response startled me as it was two in the morning and I had to board another train from Poughkeepsie to reach La Grangeville. What is she doing there this odd hour? I screamed at her with apprehension,

“ What are you doing there now? I haven't yet reached Croton Harmon. It will take a minimum of two more hours for me to reach.”

Michelle replied retaliated, “You might have overslept. Pack your things that get down. The train will reach her at any moment. It won't stop here for long.”

Quickly I grabbed my backpack and got down once the train stopped the train deport seemed like a stranded place. There was no sign of human presence anywhere. And in a moment the train departed. I took my phone to dial Michel, but there was no network on my phone. Swiftly, I remembered about Klein. If this was La Grangeville he also might have gone down here. I looked around but there was no trace of him. All around, only darkness was visible. A tint of light got my attention, and I was relieved for a moment. It was coming from a one-storey building near the train depot.

The light was hinting at the presence of someone in that building. Without restraining much, I moved towards the building. It seemed like a dilapidated building filled with creepers and climbers. The bolts of the door was rusted and it was locked. I struggled to open it but my struggle went in vain. There was a small casement near to the road through which a streak of light was visible. I moved towards the casement. My footsteps were crumbling the dry leaves which were lying on the floor. I peeked inside through the casement. Slowly my heart rate was rising and my whole body was drenched in sweat. What my eyes witnessed at that moment was something which I never anticipated. I couldn't get hold of my breath, and I trembled with fear.
