Chapter 2

Chapter 2

The hours pass and everyone was dirty, tired, but happy. We decided to wash up to go to Don Genaro's restaurant and enjoy a delicious freshly made pizza.

"My heavens!" I complain as I sit down, from my position I can appreciate the beautiful crystal clear waters.

"You should stop with the crazy paintings,” recommends my sun.

"I know, I know. I am nowhere near having my tenderness," I sigh, "I get more tired," I caress my belly when I feel my baby move.

"Have you seen the mega belly you have?" Micaela asks, “is it normal woman? I say that belly is not normal,” she looks at me almost with pity.

"It's not normal," says Fatima, "it's too big for her body," She gives me a look of displease.

"She can't walk well," Steve looks at me, “you should stay home waiting for zero hour." I roll my eyes.

"I say she still has stamina," I see Roderick shrug, “what? Don't look at me like that. When have you seen a pregnant woman so active? Olethea even runs with the pregnancy.”

I smile, my friend lacks a little gray matter, he is the most carefree of all, but the most physically attractive. He's tall, blond, his hair is as yellow as the sun, he has blue eyes that kill and a little pink mouth that makes you want to kiss him, and he has well-defined muscles, come on, he's all pretty.

"Truly, if you weren't an excellent artist, you would have starved to death," Fatima denies.

"You had to speak," my friend reproaches her.

"Well come on, you're not going to argue either," my sunshine cuts them off, “and our friends are right, you should already stay calm at home, without effort, just calm and relaxed.”

In total agreement I look at them, “what do you all say about one last time of dancing and fun?” I smile at each one, “it will be a farewell, after this no university, no days of crazy paintings and no leaving the house. Just wait and that's it. Isn't it a good  idea?” My friends look at each other and then look at my sun, he has the last word, according to them. Francesco is the owner of several well-known brand clothing stores in Milan, he is almost always on the road.

"Don't look at me, this woman could never be dominated," he jokes, "well, we'll go have fun as a farewell." Everyone applauds, starting from me.

Dinner passed between laughter, mockery and bad words from Fatima, the woman has a dirty mouth and she does not care what is thought of her. She never cares!

"Wow, I’m full," Micaela whispers almost nervously.

"That's when it's best, men and daddies to eat." Mica, looking at her with eyes the size of the planet says and gives her a shove.

"Damn, today there are no flirtations, this is just to fire Olethea and that's it," she reminds him annoyed.

"My life. If you continue like this, ignoring me, you're going to die a virgin." A horrified Mica turns from white to a garish and scandalous red.

"You should lower your shamelessness a bit," Steve says in a joking tone, "not everyone is so ..." he looks at her with disdain, “like you.” When he sees Fatima's face, he starts laughing.

"You're an idiot," she pushes him.

“Come on, stop fightin,” Roderick said, moving next to me. I, without cutting a hair started to dance ‘Bad Romance’ by Lady Gaga, people look at me almost horrified, a woman with a belly bigger than her body is moving her skeleton as if nothing was happening. Without paying attention to anything, I continue my fun, being with Fatima has taught me to ‘screw up’ with everything.

"Fuck, I hate going to the bathroom so often," I complain, looking at Mica, "this pregnancy is not easy," I smile, "it's magic and so on but ..." I snort and bite my lip.

"Do you miss them?" She asks without letting me continue.

Frowning and feeling a slightly accelerated heartbeat, I sigh, “every second, every minute, every day and every month.” I swallow the lump that forms in my throat, without taking my gaze from her eyes, I smile. “But everything is part of the process, now my sun is with me, my tenderness has come. And you, today I can say that I have been happy again and the truth is not worth suffering, I have already said it before,” my friend who is very sentimental gives a sob and hugs me.

"Is the world crazy?" I hear the voice of an annoyed man, when my friend moves away from me, I can see how he look at me.

"What did you say?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Olethea enough, don't pay any attention,” my nervous friend says to me, I shake my head and smile, I still use my smile for everything.

"What is a pregnant woman doing in a place like this?" The boy asks superiorly.

Widening my smile and tilting my head, I say, “the same thing that a troglodyte like you does," I say cocky. "Why do you also come to have fun and not say stupid things?" The man stiffens his face, "what did you expect? What would make me feel bad about what an ignorant macho says? No my dear, this is what it is and you should get used to it.” I cross my arms, “I can already pity your wife,” I say looking at the ring on his finger, “a macho, who thinks he has power, but only shows lack of how intellectual he is,” a girl comes out of the bathroom, “now I bite my tongue or an insult is the least you'll get.” My friend, who is as pale as a paper, pulls me, the idiot stands before the gazes of the  girls and boys.

“You can't hold that tongue,” my friend growls when entering the toilets, “you're just like Fatima. You don't measure the danger,” she yells hysterically, “you can't insult everyone for heaven's sake.”

I laugh when I see her like that, “calm woman, what I told him was the truth, besides, how did you expect me to stay with that? Come on, forget it now,” I say entering the bathroom.

When I leave, I do not see the idiot, we join with the others as I plan to continue enjoying myself..

"This is crazy," Steve yells, "I love it!" He takes a swig of his drink.

A pain that leaves me gasping for air crosses my hips, breathing hard I try to control myself.

"Are you okay?" Asks my sun as leads me to a seat, letting a deep breath, I relax.

“I'm fine, the baby had moved abruptly,” if it had been the baby it would have hurt my belly, dancing a lot is taking its toll, “shit,” I shout this time, the pain returned and now it's stronger, “no,  I'm not well,” my friends approach when they see my expression,”-it has given me a terrible pain in my hips for the second time,” I look at them, “it is supposed to be that when I feel any pain, it would be in my belly,” scared, I look at them, my breath went from the regular to chaotic.

"Let's go, we must get out of here, you must rest," says my sun quite seriously, when I get out and get into the car it gives me another heartbreaking pain, it is as if my hips were forced open.

"Oh my God," I scream, clenching my fist, when the pain passes I breathe, “I don't like this,” I scream.

"We have to go to the doctor now," Fatima urges us, my sun and my friends take me to the clinic where I will bring my son into the world, my friends and my sun will be here with me.

"Good evening," greets the doctor, "you have anticipated," he smiles, "I was expecting you next week," he winks at me amused, I am not seeing anything.

"Well, my son is stubborn and now ..." another pain gives me more intense and longer, "this hurts a lot," I say in a cry, "why do my hips hurt and not my lower abdomen?" I look at the doctor, who is next to me and smiling.

"All labor pains are not the same," he says, "but don't worry, once I can apply the epidural, I'll put it on you, you're doing fine, keep going and we'll finish this soon, you're three centimeters dilated.  I'll be back in a while to check on you and put the epidural on you," I nod and watch him go.

"Aaiisss honey, how you suffer," Mica whispers, "I don't like seeing you like this," I look at her and try to smile.

"Believe me, I'm not liking this at all, it's very painful." Another pain reaches me and takes my soul.

"I can't handle this, I'll be out," says Roderick leaving.

"We're doing great, you're doing great, I'm here for you." She caresses my forehead, her hand must hurt, every pain makes me squeeze my face with great force.

The hours are eternal and very slow, my friends could not bear seeing me like this, so they left, only my sun and Fatima had remained. The pains weaken me more and more, the intensity of them exceeds all limits.

"That's right, I want you to stay still, don't breathe," the doctor says to me, the needle he's about to put me in is not funny, but it's all to stop feeling so much pain. I feel the twinge in my lower back, it is an uncomfortable pressure.

"Aaahhh, yes..." I whisper, embracing my sun, "that's much better," I gasp as I lie down, now I know that after a few minutes I won't feel more than pressure when the pains hit me.

Now you will have a good time," smiles the doctor, he never stops smiling, doesn't it give him empathy to see people suffering? "I can't stop looking at him, "this light that you see here indicates when you have a contraction," just by looking at the red light, it lights up, "you see, right now you are having a contraction and I can assure you that you will only feel a slight pressure," the truth is, I do not feel anything, "you are almost 5 centimeters, but you have not broken your water bag, you are having a dry delivery."

He position himself in between my legs and I see him take a rod that looks like plastic to the eye, "I'll have to break it for you and thus speed up the process, you'll see that you will dilate faster," I don't feel anything, I just see him tinker and put a container for the liquid.

"I'm never going to have children," I hear my friend say, looking at her, I see that she is pale, "this is not good ... Nothing good," her cowardice makes me laugh.

"It's not so bad, well, not once they put the epidural on you," I sigh more relaxed now, my friend shakes her head nonstop, I just smile.

Zero hour arrives and I am eager to meet my baby, I am desperate to meet him. "Once again, it's almost there," I push again with all my might, "that's it ... Here he is, he's a big man with a very good weight, you can tell," I hear my son's powerful cry, breathing sharply, I look at him when they place him on me. When they cover him, I hug him immediately to give him a welcome kiss.

"Ciao il mio marrone," I greet my baby.

"You have made it Wonder, you have brought our baby into the world." Francesco gives me a quick kiss on the lips, I with tears in my eyes look at my son, his jet black hair and those captivating black eyes made me instantly fall in love.

"You've brought our baby," says my friend, "he's finally here with us." She smiles happily.

"He is much desired," says the doctor, "Mr. Leone can cut the cord." My happy sun does what they ask.

"You have no idea how desired he is," says Steve, entering with our friends, they take the baby from me to prepare him and I miss him already.

Once in the recovery room, I refuse to sleep, I am very agitated, but I want to hold my son in my arms and not let go of him anymore.

"I have fallen in love, for the first time I know what true love is," my son is asleep, he is a glutton. Caressing his chubby cheeks, I sigh, "he is my life, he is my strength and my entire universe," I smile with tears  running down my cheeks.

"This child is lucky that others are not, he has a strong, loving mother who would give everything for him," say my sun, approaching me, "and clearly he has us all, welcome Piccolo uomo." Immensely happy, I look at my four friends and at my sun.

"Thank you, thank you for always being there for me, thank you because despite my silence you always supported me," I sigh, "thank you for a new life." My friends and my sun surround me to admire together the new member of the family.
