Jade’s POV

Tears streamed down my eyes as I saw the lifeless body of the two men. How had Fred become such a beast?

He wasn’t as I had remembered. And Devon fighting so valiantly for me? The pain was too much to bear.

My knees gave way and I fell to the ground. Why did all this have to happen? Why didn’t Fred accept his fate? Why didn’t Devon leave me?

The sound of car wheels came to my ears and I jumped up, pointing the gun at anyone who was trying to cause more harm that had been done.
