Chapter 6 Crazy Mother

Chapter 6 Crazy Mother

Chapter Six – Crazy Mother.

Henry’s POV

Devon must have patted Jake on the shoulder or head, but it was a pat sound I heard on him. Or was it my thoughts again?

Footsteps, someone passed Jake and walked towards my horse. She neighed.

“Is this your horse?” I guess it was one of Devon’s men that asked.

“No, it’s not. I guess the owner left it here. They’d come back. It happens all the time” Jake replied causally.

My endurance level under the water was reducing. I needed to come back up.

Again, I met that mermaid. Under water, I tried swimming away but she came closer with one flap of her tail. What was this again?

Her hair was strangely pink and her face small and cute, I hadn’t bother look at her face the first time. More attractive things were in front.

Maybe I watched hentai too much, I should stop. An Alpha didn’t have time anymore. I should enjoy this day while it lasted.

When Devon and his men were far gone, I came to the surface and breathe in air. Jake had waved when he saw me but I had to go back in again.

I dived deeper under the lake to recover a shiny object I spotted down below. The mermaid was leading me, I knew I was in trance.

Suddenly I jolted up, jumping out from the water.

I immediately shifted to my wolf and landed on the ground. Jake sprang up afraid. My body was having a small concussion so he ran towards me.

And that was the only bad thing about the lake, so many SILVERY things buried underneath. I’d blame that mermaid for causing me to follow her.

It now seemed she didn’t have my best interest at heart. Small laughters, I heard small laughter.

It wasn’t Jake’s so probably that wicked mermaid. From my twisted imaginations.

“Alpha! Alpha!” Jake jerked me. I coughed out water and shook sand from my body before giving Jake a grateful smile.

He reduced his breathing and patted my back, “Be careful, okay?”. I nodded, running my hand through my wet hair, away from my face.

“You heard Devon, right? About Megan” Jake strolled back to his beddings, “And he doesn’t like my twin. He’d just use Jade”. I shifted back.

“Jade is smart, she won’t be used” I didn’t believe that but just wanted to console him. My breathing regulated, I put on my clothes.

I noticed that Jake had been looking at my bare body and his face flushed when I caught him.

“I’d leave you here then. Good night and sleep with one eyes closed” I winked. His sister always did that to me.

He made an ‘hmm’ sound and I left with my horse. Far off, I heard him whisper, “Goodnight, Alpha”. The kid did have something to him.

I kept on seeing weird things as I strode home. The mermaid growing legs, jumping and running around me, always giggling or laughing wickedly.

This was weird. What horror drama was I in? I knew I was losing my head but I assumed I’d feel depressed rather than fantasizing things.

It only meant that the reason for my craziness was my mate. Then who said an Alpha was the most powerful!

The pink haired mermaid stopped running, changing her mood and crawling to a tree. Hiding behind it, she peeked to my mansion, the Alpha’s mansion.

“Don’t you wanna go in?” I spoke to her. I didn’t wanna go in, and if she was anything from my imagination, she wouldn’t want to go in too.

She looked scared and hesitant, like I was. If father was home, then it’d be work.

My day would be even worse, if my cousin were here already. Her shoulders slumped when my mom called me with excitement.

My mother, a pack Luna, ran out on bare feet holding a bowl of milk, just because she met her son riding back home with a long face.

I understood mother’s love and everything but my mom was so carefree that she couldn’t be Alpha of her pack, after her father, she rather be Luna.

Where she could rear her cows and horses in peace. A simple life, that I missed when my sister handed pack activities to me. Ridding herself from being Alpha as well.

“Hey, honey!” my mother waved.

I couldn’t find the mermaid girl anymore. I took my horse to the stable and fed it. M was standing at the stable watching me.

“I’m okay, mom” I faked a smile. Could she stop pinching my cheeks!

“You look tired and hungry. Here’s milk for that over thinking head of yours”.

I turned to her, holding a jug of milk. How had I not seen her holding it there? Smiling gratefully, I gulped its content, “Thanks, mom”.

“Sure honey, being Alpha isn’t so bad. You need to stop overthinking” says someone who forfeited it during her own time, “Also, you’d have a coronation, a mate and your cousin is coming too!”.

She had to spoil my appetite. I handed her back the jug and bowed. Why should I be glad my cousin was coming? He was coming to compete.

What gave him the right to think I shouldn’t be Alpha! My mother was the first daughter of our grandfather and was given the Alpha title.

She fell in love and gave the title to her husband, the then Beta’s son, to rule the pack. Her brother revolted but wasn’t given hearing.

Now, his son wants to make another revolt. An Alpha is one that is worthy. I may not be yet but he would never be. Was that hard to understand!

His sister didn’t reject the pack, she have it to her mate. Why does he feel entitled to it!

“Honey, where are you going?” I heard her shout again. She could be embarrassing, I turned and she was still bare feet.

She pursed her lips, pressing the jug on her chest.

“Um… to get Megan from the bar. She’s drunk” I lied.

She caught on it and frowned, “She is an adult. She can come home on her own. She is with her mate. Leave her to grow her family”.

Couldn’t my mom listen? Megan was drunk in a bar. What family growth was done there?

“See you later, mom” I walked off back to a hillside. She followed for a while before sighing loudly and leaving.

She’d get over it. It was my dad’s fault for being too busy. I’d be replacing him soon, for her sake.

The breeze from the hillside reminded me the lake. I guess that’s how natural environments felt.

I took off my clothes and strapped it on my leg, giving in to my wolf’s nudges. I shifted to my wolf, he let out a noisy howl as he came.

He stretched his paws and shook his dark body readying himself before sprinting down the hillside. He had control of his body. I was glad, for my sake.

I just rested inside and let him take control. My wolf ran through the hills, jumping through them like they were little stones.

Enjoying the feeling of being free was always short-lived for me, as my body froze when I heard a loud gunshot!

My wolf growled loudly, raising an alarm to nearby wolves. What nonsense! It was a hunter’s gunshot! No one else had a gun shot in my pack

To use it for what! They had never been a gunshot around our pack for almost a year now till these hunters arrived.

“Jesse, can you catch anything?” I asked my wolf, he snarled, he was already running towards the sound, catching a scent. An unfamiliar one.

It better be one of Devon’s boys, I’d happily shred him and dump his carcass on Devon’s new jeep.

And to my satisfaction, it was one of them. These were the only few times the Moon Goddess was fair to me.
