I sat upright in the visiting room, watching Serena, haggard and shackled, drag herself in.

In just a month, she seemed to have aged significantly, losing her previous frailty, her face now marked by bitterness.

Seeing me, Serena sneered, "So, are you here to see how I'm faring?"

I smiled back. "I'm pleased to see you're not doing well."

Serena's expression shifted. After a moment of contemplation, she began to laugh again. "If I'm doing poorly, you must be too. Your husband doesn't love you, your child is gone. Tsk, tsk, how pathetic."
