Roman tried calling Serena, but her line was switched off. Panic set in almost instantly.

“Damn it!” he cursed, dashing out of the balcony. His footsteps echoed through the hallway as he jumped into his car and sped off toward the hospital.

He kept dialing, but still no answer. The unknown number rang again, and Roman answered in a fury.

“What the hell is going on? Nothing must happen to her!” he barked, his foot slamming harder on the accelerator.

“Relax. Serena is fine,” the man on the line replied calmly.
