I couldn’t understand a damn thing. This wizard was Selene’s father.

How?

It didn’t make sense. But one thing I knew I didn’t have the time to demand answers. Not now. From the look in his eyes, Michael wasn’t lying.

Still, I didn’t trust him.

Michael’s voice broke through. “I’m going to Lucian. I’ll stall him somehow and keep him away from here. You two must complete the ritual in my absence.”

Selene nodded slowly, and then she looked back at me. I didn’t need to be told what she was thinking.

If Lucian managed to get here, he would want to perform the ritual himself, with Selene....
