Selene's POV

From behind me, Killian’s voice came. “Please, Michael. Don’t hold on to this. Forgive her and let’s move forward from here.”

Michael paused. I could feel the tension in his breath. And then, he finally moved. He reached down and lifted my mother from the ground.

She looked up at him, her face streaked with tears, trembling like a child. And then he pulled her into an embrace.

Something inside me broke and healed all at once. I burst into sobs and wrapped my arms around both of them, holding on as tightly as I could.
