The house was quiet. Fenris was asleep. Drako was in his room, surrounded by treasures - shiny rocks, broken watches, a dagger he’d found in a gutter. Aria checked on them both. She closed their doors. She walked to the third room.
Lycian was awake.
He sat on the edge of his bed, reading. A book of old maps. Territories that didn’t exist anymore. Kingdoms that had fallen. He was about six, and he read like a scholar.
“Lights out,” she said.
“Five more minutes.”
