Chapter 2:

Building Heat

I helped Mom clear the brunch plates, but my eyes kept drifting back to Lewis. He stood up, stretching those thick arms above his head, and his shirt rode up again, showing that trail of dark hair disappearing into his jeans. My mouth went dry.

“Lewis, you mind helping me set up the tables outside for the big lunch later?” Dad asked, slapping him on the back.

“Sure thing, Uncle. Lead the way,” Lewis said, then glanced at me. “Anna, you coming to help too?”

“Yeah,” I answered too quickly. “I’ll grab the tablecloths.”
