The Acceptance Letter and New Beginnings

My hands shook as I tore open the envelope. The university logo stared back at me in bold letters. I scanned the first line twice before it sank in.

“I got in,” I whispered, my voice cracking. “Mom! Dad! I got in!”

Mom rushed into the living room, wiping her hands on her apron. “Rose? What did you say?”

I thrust the letter at her, tears blurring my vision. “Read it. Please. Tell me I’m not dreaming.”
