As the beta she-wolf walked closer to me, I saw her face clearly. The best way I could describe her was that she looked confident, attractive, and aggressive. I would say she was totally unapproachable for me, even though she was a beta. Unlike my own baggy sweater and torn sneakers, the girl was wearing skinny jeans, a black tank top and high-heeled boots that showed off her buxom body.
She stopped in front of me and eyed me in hostile silence.
“Hmm, hi...?”I let out an awkward greeting.
“Brian has never brought any she-wolves home since his mate was dead. I can’t believe that he brings a she-wolf who doesn’t belong to Blue Moon Pack home!”She spat out her words in a distasteful and scornful way as if I was something like mole crickets and ants.
Before I could react to her words she had grabbed me and was dragging me down the halls into a basement-looking thing. I started to struggle but it was no use since I was too weak at the moment. She started to get irritated and hit me. After multiple blows to my head and abdomen, I gave up getting rid of her. I just let her drag me. I should have known nothing was going to change.
Leticia, the woman who had placed me in a cell from earlier and had hit me a few times, eventually stopped. She had grown tired of hitting me and ordered other beta werewolves to continue what she just did. My body ached and my skin was about to break and release my blood all over the floor.
I had expected a brand-new start, but what I got was just another hell. My consciousness started to fade away. All of a sudden the hitting stopped as soon as I heard a furious voice.
“What the fuck are you doing?!?” The strong voice hollered.
“I'm sorry Alpha that I should have informed you as soon as I found out she didn’t belong to our pack. You just seemed-” Leticia answered with fear, but her voice was cut off by a slam on the wall.
“Of course I know, idiot!!” Brian yelled at her.
“No one will touch her... She will be my mate..” His strong voice commanded.
Everyone in the cell stood frozen until one of them softly said“Alpha, but...”
“I said she is mine!!”He yelled in the wolf's face.
The last sound I could hear was Brian’s howling. Then my body was ready to give in to my dark slumber and I smiled at the thought. Darkness was my only escape from the horrible reality. Soon blackness started to overcome me. I felt my body go limp.
I was running across the forest. I didn't even remember why I was running. My back ached and my legs were feeble. I knew I should stop, but I couldn’t. The cold wind kept blowing towards my body like swords. But that was no big deal compared with death. If I stopped, I would definitely die. That’s what my wolf told me. My paws were bleeding. I felt my running speed start to slow down. I was too weak to sustain my wolf and I shifted into a human. I was going to die. I heard footsteps with growling chasing after me. I didn't dare turn around. I had no courage to be confronted with what I would see. The growling was closer. My body was out of control and it started to turn around.
I was pounced on the muddy ground before I could turn around. Then I saw a pair of green eyes which appeared in my every single nightmare. They were familiar to me. They belonged to my father.
His wolf was black. Black as the darkness. His fur was long and coarse that tingled my skin.
His head came closer to my neck with his mouth opened. His canines were sharp. There was no doubt that I would die immediately from his bite. But I knew it was no use to resist. So I closed my eyes with desperation, waiting for the coming of death.
The pain didn’t come to me as I expected. My father paused as we heard a howling across the forest. A sliver white wolf ran towards us and pounced him out of my body. His was so fast that only a few seconds later my father moaned with his body laying on the ground. His blood flowed down from his black fur and seeped into the snow. His body went stiff.
That wolf turned around and walked towards me. His eyes were so familiar to me. I must have met him before but I was not sure about it. Then he shifted into human and squatted down in front of me. Brian’s face appeared after the fog passed off.
My eyes fluttered open and I woke up in a cold sweat. I was in an unfamiliar room. I inferred I was in Brian’s bedroom. The room was gloomy. There was a door off to my left and a fairly large window to my right, showing a beautiful view of a mountain range.
I tried to sit up but I heavily gasped as soon as I moved a little bit. I grabbed my ribs, only to be met with more pain. I had another attempt and finally sat up slowly. My arms were shivering with effort and pain.
The door was opened before Brian walked in and sat on the empty chair next to the bed. I watched him as he came closer, trying to keep my breathing even. I had no idea what he would do to me, but I knew that he could be dangerous if he was provoked. As soon as he was seated, my body flinched. He sat down and moved a hand through his hair.
“I apologize to you, Ethel.”He let out a sigh before he spoke. “I apologize for those stupid wolves. I...I mean...I didn’t want to hurt you...”He said softly.
I had no idea why he became so gentle with me at that moment. Probably because of guilt, I guess. It seemed that he thought I was like some sort of doll, which was made of precious glass and needed to be protected.
“It's not your fault,” I said in a soft voice trying not to make my wounds hurt.“I don't blame you.”
Out of my expectation, a look of relief didn’t show on his face. He kept looking at me with pity visible in his eyes, in a way which I didn’t want.
“If you are still sorry for it, do me a favor.”I proposed.
“Of course.” He was quick to answer. ”What do you want me to do?”
“Please stay.”I heard my voice crack a little bit because of thirst “I don't want to be alone right now.”I gripped his arms as I said.
To be honest, it was a little bit dangerous to stay with an Alpha alone, especially when you were injured. But after going through the nightmare just now, I felt a sense of security from Brian for some unknown reasons. My sixth sense told me that he might be the person who could protect me.
