Katherine’s back hit a wall as she tried to move away from Lucifer.

"You were expecting me? Why?" she stammered, staying still as he moved so close she had nowhere left to go.

Lucifer didn’t answer right away. His eyes studied her, calm but intense, like he was deciding exactly what to do with her. “Let’s just say I had a feeling,” he finally said, his voice low. “You just couldn’t resist sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.”

Her chest tightened, but she forced herself to stand tall. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
