The reflection in the back view mirror sent a jolt of terror through Katherine's body. On the woodsy roads, a pair of glowing, green eyes stared back at her from the darkness. unblinking and unnatural still. 

Whoever it was the figure was barely visible, cloaked in shadows, but it's predatory gaze was unmistakable. The sight made Katherine sick, as if all her stomach's contents were about to tumble out. 

Her throat tightened as the creature—person, whatever—tilted its head slightly, almost as if studying her.
