It's been three hours since Alvara left the house. Three fucking hours.

I wanted to just give in, whisk out my phone, and call her, but held back.

“Alvara will be back soon,” I mumbled over and over again. “She just went down to the hospital. Maybe she got worried and decided to stay back and watch over Alysia for a while.”

Yeah. That sounded like something Alvara would do.

Immediately my phone rings. I picked it up without checking the caller ID. “Alvara?”

“Kai, it's me, Iris.” My sister's voice rings through the speaker.

“Oh, Iris. How are y—“

“Alvara is at the hospital, Kai.”

My heart sank....
