Klara’s mother went still on the other end of the line.
“What plan B?”
Klara wiped her face with the back of her hand, forcing herself to breathe evenly. She needed to sound calm. Convincing. Like she wasn’t sitting on a concrete floor in a damn warehouse.
“They’re both angry,” she said slowly. “Not at me. At each other.”
Klara paused for a moment.
“They hate each other more than they hate me,” she continued. “That’s the truth. Roman feels betrayed. Alec feels robbed. Neither of them is thinking clearly.”
