An excruciating moment later, when everyone was dispersing gradually, that was when Gary thought it was best for us to stay back. Whilst he had forgotten about the dinner he had spoken about at their place.

By then, Kaylee had left home and left him behind. Her excuse still rang in my ears, “I wasn't here with him, since you both came together, you can ask well go back together.”
