As my gaze went back on Pearl, my doubts were cleared.

She cleared her throat and tried to avoid eye contact with me again. “Baby, let's get out of here,” she said to Caleb.

Meanwhile, Zane's eyes narrowed with his eyes lowered on the ground. “Drive us home. She's the one I briefed you about earlier,” Gary stated.

“I'm at your service, boss,” he finally managed to utter some words. I know at this moment he feels like the earth should open up and swallow him.
