The cold gaze he sent my way which always went beyond the surface of my skin made me wince a little.

If only I had been a little more careful, I wouldn't have been in this situation.

“I'll get going.” I managed to speak but I couldn't move my feet. It seemed like they had been glued to the ground.

“You want to know the reason why?” He huffed, his chair scraping the floor and making an unpleasant sound.
