Chapter 2

Chapter 2

I underwent a partial anesthesia surgery, not only addressing the wound from the scissors but also treating an old arm fracture.

My goal was achieved.

After realizing that everything I said was true, Mom sat by my hospital bed, holding my hand and crying incessantly.

"It's all my fault for not taking better care of you, letting you get kidnapped by those damned traffickers and suffer so much. Your arm... it must have hurt so badly..."

It did hurt, but compared to the emotional pain and suffering acknowledged in my previous life, these physical pains were nothing.

Pale, I shook my head and instead comforted her.

"Mom, don't blame yourself. It's all in the past now. You have two daughters now, and that's wonderful."

I stayed in the hospital for half a month, during which Mia Rivers also came to visit me.

She crossed her arms, looking down at me with disdain.

"Do you think that by pretending to be pitiful, Mom and Dad will like you and accept you? Dream on. The Rivers family is a prestigious family. You don't even know what a piano is—don't embarrass the Rivers family!"

Her arrogant demeanor clearly showed that she hadn't faced any punishment for this matter.

Of course, she had been the Rivers family's carefully cultivated fake daughter for over a decade, known among all circles of society.

How could a minor injury to me shake her status?

I needed to take it slow, to gradually push her out of the picture.

So I looked at her calmly, my tone as serene as water.

"As a bully, how dare you come here and boast so arrogantly?"

I had to admit, Mia Rivers had good psychological resilience; apart from a slight change in her expression, she managed to act as if she hadn't heard a thing.

"Fake is fake. Do you really think Mom believes I did this?"

Whether she believes it or not doesn't matter; my goal has been achieved.

I closed my eyes and reached out to press the nurse call button.

"Help, nurse! Someone has been verbally attacking me and not letting me rest. Help me!"

Mia Rivers was driven out by the nurse, leaving while cursing and calling me scheming and vicious.

Half a month later, I was discharged and rested at home for a while before being assigned to the family company, working in the same department as her.

On my first day at work, there was a huge commotion.

Several of Mia's sycophantic friends cornered me in the bathroom, not letting me out.

A girl with peach blossom eyes scrutinized me with disdain.

"Is this really the Rivers family's biological daughter? It's hard to believe, she's even uglier than my dog Eddy."

"Chloe Morgan, don't insult Eddy. It's a prince among dogs; how can this country bumpkin compare?"

I turned around, found a bucket in the corner, and placed it under the faucet to fill with water.

Their confusion grew with my strange actions. Chloe Morgan glanced at me and then at Mia Rivers.

"Mimi, I think you're right. She's definitely crazy."

The bucket soon filled up, and I looked at the group of girls, giving them a final warning.

"Will you let me through or not?"

Chloe Morgan stood tall and proud, her attitude arrogant.

"This is your family's bathroom. We can't come in? I won't let you out, so what?"

"Chloe Morgan, right? I'll remember you."

With that, I abruptly lifted the bucket and poured the contents over them.

The bucket was likely used for cleaning the toilet, with a faint but noticeable unpleasant odor.

They were thrown into disarray by the sudden deluge, their faces turning pale and their screams piercing.

With a clang, I casually dropped the bucket on the floor.

"Mia Rivers must have told you that I'm a bully. She's right; I am."

"Now you can go outside, soaked to the bone, and loudly tell everyone that I bullied you. Go ahead—"

The humiliation from my past life surged again, my voice rising sharply.

The girls trembled in fear and looked at each other in shock.
