Marksman looked at his watch. He wanted to get home and tell his dad what was going on before making some plans so he could leave and go after Ember.

“Uh, it’s not a great time—”

“It’s about Keely.”

Marksman froze. His whole body suddenly felt cold. “Keely?”

Cassie nodded. “I know you’ve been worried about her and after we talked last time, I watched her more closely. I think I know what’s going on and I’m worried.”

“What’s going on?” Marksman asked, barely holding his worry and fear in check.

“Let’s go and have a coffee and I’ll tell you everything.”
