“What?” Mia asked. “According to Mrs. Watson, Elma’s practically hysterical over the fact it was stolen.”

Pops grunted and shook his head, his mouth full of scone, a dusting of flour around his lips. He swallowed and then took a sip of his tea before speaking. “Elma asked me and Rog to take the gnome away. Gordon has been causing havoc in Elma’s garden.”

“Elma named her gnome after her husband?” Mia asked, reaching for a scone.

“No,” Pops said with a shake of his head. “It wasn’t the gnome causing trouble, but good old Gordon himself in the flesh…or the spirit, I suppose.”
