“A test??” She asked and Dean looked at her, confused.

“Yeahhh. I was trying to see how you act when your two arms have been cut and when you’re under pressure”.

“Wow”.

“Yeah and you did well. Now I’m sure I can rely on you and you’re definitely fit for the work. See you tomorrow. Also, there’s no meeting. Good night”, she said to her and she hung up.

“What did she say?” Dean asked her. “It was all a test! Can you imagine?” “A test? What kind of test is that?”

“Same thing I said to myself. To think that I would have lost my job if I didn’t call the contact person or Erica”.

“You’re welcome”, he said, wiggling his brows.

“Thank you so much Dean. You’re always a life saver”, she said to him and he smirked.

“Okay, I’m back to not talking to you”.

“What? Do that and you’ll wake up tied to your bed”, he said to her and she laughed.

“I’m kidding though”, she said, smirking.

“I know. So are you ready to eat now? I’m sure your food is cold by now”. “Oh God! I forgot”, she said and she ran out of the room.

Jessica was at work, typing out an agreement letter for a deal between Erica and a client.

When she was done with it, she decided to print it but her printer was acting up.

“Shoot!” She exclaimed and she stepped out to get some help.

When she stepped out of her office, she saw Mr Day walking towards her direction and she quickly ran back into her office.

He walked by and poked his head into her office. “Are you okay?” He asked her and she nodded. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost”.

“No, I was just uhmm. My printer isn’t working and so I was trying to find help”. “And that’s why you ran into your office?”

“No, I... Uhmm,” she said, stuttering.

“Let me take a look at it”, he said, interrupting her and he opened the top part of the printer and observed it.

“The ink is done. You’ll have to request for a new set from the procurement manager”.

“Okay, thank you”.

“Yeah but in the mean time you can print whatever you want to print in my office. Just send it to my printer”.

“I don’t know how to do that”, she said to him and she wished she didn’t say that because she didn’t want him to see as an incompetent person.

“Let me help you out”, he said, walking towards her desk. She stood behind him as he sent the document to his printer. “Did you see that?” He asked.

“Yeah, thank you so much Mr Day”.

“No problem”, he said, walking out and she followed him to his office to take the printed documents.

When she walked into his office she was amazed at how big it was. He had a lot of certifications, awards and medals hanged on the wall.

This made her wonder what he was into.

She took the documents from his printer and walked towards the exit. “Thank you so much Ric..sorry Mr Day”, she said to him.

“If you feel more comfortable with Richard, you can call me that”.

“Oh no. I think Mr Day is fine, I don’t know why you introduced yourself as Richard”.

“Is there anyone who introduces themselves as ‘Mr Whatever their surname is?’” He asked and she chuckled.

“You have a point but you’re like my boss, so I’ll stick to Mr Day. Thank you once again”, she said and she left.

Erica was at the conference room with her top designers, having a meeting and Jessica was seated by her and Mr Day was seated across them with Lisa and the other designers.

Jessica was a bit uncomfortable because he kept stealing glances at her. She also wondered if the others noticed that.

She tried her best to focus on the lady who was presenting her new designs but it wasn’t working out for her and she found herself stealing glances at him too.

“So Jessica, what do you think about these designs?” Erica asked, startling her. “Shoot!” She said to herself because she didn’t pay much attention to it.

She quickly looked at the design on the screen and assessed it for a minute.

“I think this one is really beautiful and it would look better with the short sleeves”, she said to her.

“Mmmm, who else feels the same way?” Erica asked and some of the designers lifted their hands.

“Oh thank God”, she said to herself.

When the meeting came to an end, Jessica left with Erica.

They both went to the fabrics room where she assisted Erica and the workers over there to pick out some new fabrics.

They spent hours, doing that and by the time they were done, Jessica was really exhausted.

She took a look at the time and it was almost 6pm.

“I have to get going”, she said to herself and as she walked towards her office, Erica called her back.

“Jessica, we’ll be leaving to The Jens right now”, she said to her and Jessica was confused because it wasn’t on her schedule.

“Yeah, go and take your things. We’ll be leaving soon. We have to meet with the stylist over there. She’s interested in one of my new works”.

“Oh okay”, Jessica said and she walked back to her office.

“Oh God”, she said, sitting on her chair. She was really exhausted and just wanted to go home to eat and sleep.

As she packed her purse, she received a text from Dean.

“I’ll be coming home really late. Anastasia and I have a date tonight. I’ll see you tomorrow morning or evening”.

She read it and she tossed her phone.

Jessica was looking forward to talk to Dean about her stressful day and now he wasn’t going to be home early.

As she was packing her things, Richard knocked on the door. She saw him through the glass door and she got nervous. “Come in”, she said to him and he walked in.

“Hey”, he said, smiling.

“Hey”, she said, looking away.

“Erica has taken the lead. She needs to take care of something, so, I’ll be dropping you off. Is that okay?” He asked and she nodded.

“Alright, I’ll be waiting for you in the lobby”, he said to her and he left.

When she was done packing her stuff, she stepped out and she met him in the lobby.

“You ready?” He asked. “Yeah”.

“Alright, let’s go”, he said to her and they left.

They arrived at the car park and she realized that he had a special spot allocated to him.

“Woah! This car is massive!” She said to herself as she admired the black Chrysler in front of her.

She stood behind the door and waited for him to unlock it. When he did, he walked up to where she was standing and he opened the door for her to get in. This felt so weird to her but she got in and waved it off.

The ride was silent and it made Jessica feel really uncomfortable. She fidgeted with her hands and played with her phone.

“Are you okay?” Richard asked. “Yeah I am”.

“You look tired. If you’re not up for this, I can come up with an excuse for you”, he

said to her.

“No, no. I’m up for it”, she said to him. “This is probably another silly test”, she thought to herself.

“You sure?” He asked. “Yeah, I am”.

“Alright”, he said to her and the ride went back to being as silent as a graveyard. They finally arrived at their destination and they both stepped out of the car.

“This way”, he said, directing her and she walked beside him.

As they walked into the huge building, Jessica looked around and admired the building.

The building was quite bigger than theirs and the interior was magnificent. They walked into a room and a lady approached them.

“Hello Richard”, she said, hugging him and they were in that position for a while till he released his grip.

“I wasn’t expecting to see you here today”, she said to him.

“She’s gorgeous”, Jessica thought to herself as she admired the lady in front oh her.

The lady looked a bit older than Richard but she was really pretty and her outfit was glamorous.

“Yeah, Erica had to take care of something but she’s on her way here and I had to help her out by dropping off Jessica, her official personal assistant”, he said to the lady and Jessica smiled at her.

“Jessica, this is Ellen Jen, she’s currently the Director of the Jens. And this company belongs to her family”.

“Hello”, Jessica said, stretching out her hands for a handshake but the lady ignored her gesture and paid no attention to her.

This made her feel embarrassed and she dropped her hands.

“Do you want a cup of tea. We can have one in my office”, the lady said to him, smiling in a flirtatious manner.

“Oh yeah, we’ll have a cup of tea”, he said, looking in Jessica’s direction.

“I’ll make sure she gets attended to by my assistant. Let’s go”, Ellen said to him and he didn’t move an inch.

“Oh, I just realized that I have to be somewhere. I have to get going”. “But you just got here”.

“Yeah, I have other things to attend to. I’m so sorry. Maybe we can do this another time”.

“Alright. Let me walk you to your car”.

“Sure. Jessica you can sit here and Erica would be here soon”. “Okay Mr Day”, she said to him.

“I’ll see you tomorrow”, he said to her and he left with Ellen.

Jessica took her seat at the lobby as she waited for Erica.

After a short while, Erica arrived and they met with Ellen at the conference room. As they had the meeting, Jessica took notes on her laptop.

The meeting finally came to an end and Erica requested for an Uber for her to get home.

When Jessica arrived at home, it was already passed 10 pm and she was so exhausted.

She unlocked the door to her house and when she walked in, she saw Dean and Anastasia in an uncompromising position. They had their tongues buried in each other’s throat.

The sight of this made her sick to her stomach.

“How long do I have to entertain this”, she thought to herself as she walked past them.

“Hey”, Dean said, interrupting her. “I didn’t hear you walk in”.

“Well you were quite busy”, she said, trying to avoid eye contact. “Hey Jess”, Anastasia said to her.

“Hi”.

“How come I got in here before you”, Dean asked.

“I was busy at work”, she said, walking towards her room. “You we’re working till now?” He asked.

“Yeahhh”.

“How..”

“I’m so tired Dean. We can talk about this later”, she said to him and she walked into her room and dived on her bed.

She stayed in that position for a while and then she got up and walked into her bathroom.

After taking a quick shower, she dived on her bed and slept off.
