When a female goes into heat, the discomfort continues until she has mated and conceived. The mating process can take several hours, and the likelihood of pregnancy is quite high.

Josie lay in bed, breathless and restless, while a female doctor examined her. The older doctor appeared concerned. 

"Explain". 

She glanced toward Josie, who lay there, still breathing unevenly and muttering incoherent sentences. 

"She's in heat."

"Humans don't experience heat," I replied.

Humans didn't go into heat, they simply didn't, as it was a condition reserved for lycans…

So why was my human wife burning alive?

"They don't," the doctor stated, folding her arms. "Not unless something extraordinary...
