“I can’t just sit still,” Deviana muttered as she opened her laptop. Her fingers trembled, but her eyes burned with determination. “If that man really was a former journalist, I have to know who he is.”
She pulled out the small notebook where she had scribbled details from the encounter in the parking lot. The man’s words kept echoing in her head: “There’s a bigger truth at play. Be careful if you want to stay alive.”
Deviana typed quickly into the search engine: “missing journalist, Devandra case.” Hundreds of old articles appeared, most of them deleted or archived. Still, a few fragments remained on obscure blogs.
