“How is she, doc?” I asked, glancing over at Brittany who was still lying unconsciously on the hospital bed.

After yesterday's incident, she only opened her eyes once in the car on our way to the hospital. Though, I freaked out initially but seeing the doctor's facial expression wasn't as serious as when we arrived, I realized she could be getting better.

He kept mute for a while as he checked Brittany with his stethoscope. Then he turned to the nurse who was with him all along, “stay behind to monitor her and inform me as soon as she wakes up.” He instructed and she nodded.
