When I entered the office I met Levi, the former import in charge who was promoted to Sales Executive. “Morning, Lev.”
He didn't answer and he didn't seem to see me either. I wondered why he behaved like that because we are friends. In fact, Levi was one of those who recommended me to Ma'am Rona and Mr. Chavez.
I approached the man's secretary Camilla and asked. “Is there a problem with Levi, Cams?”
“It's a big problem,” Camilla answered shaking her head, making me even more intrigued.
“Why?” I really sneered at Camilla because she was so nosy.
“One of his girlfriends is on the rooftop and looks like she's going to jump,” Camilla replied hysterically, so what happened was, I and the rest of our colleagues left the office together and went to the rooftop.
We were all out of breath from all the walking we did. We had just reached the top of the building when we heard a woman scream and so did Levi.
It happened so fast and we were all surprised. Is that really true? “Who is that woman?” I asked Cami again. It's Levi, eh! He was so womanizing and didn't even think about the welfare of a woman, or even consider her a person. It's face-to-face because it's insulting women. He feels that he is the most handsome in the whole company!
“Will Levi ever change?”
“I don't know Cam. Of the two of us, you know Levi's true personality better,” I said.
“I doubt not,” Camilla replied.
“Shall we bet?”
“Cool!”
I know that what Camilla and I talked about was too insensitive, especially since everything got messy. “Sir is coming,” I whispered to my companions because I was the first to see him.
“Good heavens! Let's go,” said Camilla before she pulled me but it was too late because of Mr. Chavez. The man looked at his expensive wristwatch and then turned to us.
“It's office hours,” said sir.
We are like wet chicks in front of Mr. Chavez. We are ashamed of our gossip because we didn't help anyone before. We didn't even approach Levi, eh?
When we entered the office, the phone rang at the same time so I immediately ran to my desk. But my documentation staff has already preceded me in answering.
“Miss Kylie, it's supposed to be a follow-up to the arrival,” said Joan.
“Okay, pass it to me,” I said.
Joan is still a beginner so she doesn't know much about our track and trace system. “Hi Ma'am, good morning. How can I help you?”
“Good morning over and over again?”
The cursed client on the other line immediately raised his eyebrows. Was it wrong that I wished him good morning? “Because the person you were talking to earlier is a different person, so it's only natural that I say good morning,” I explained of course.
“Don't po-po me, I'm still young!”
I really wondered what the problem was with the woman on the other line. It's too early in the morning! “Sorry Ma'am, I just got used to our old clients. Because you are the same when you speak, eh.”
I heard the woman's breathing on the other line. Isn't he a loser? Because I will not be placed in the import if I am Santa. It needs a damn import. Often, clients are reprimanded, especially first time importers.
“Hmmmmm!”
“What is your BL number Ma'am and I will trace him?” I was quite calm when I asked him so I quickly input the BL he said into the system.
“It was sent a long time ago, a month ago and it still hasn't arrived,” explained the importer. He also explained that they need such a shipment.
“Upon checking, it just arrived Ma'am. I will just prepare the documents and send you the arrival notice, please just wait because I will send it withi today,” I told him.
I still need to make a manifest for the shipments that arrived to be submitted to the shipping line that the cargo was on. After the manifest, have the arrival notices faxed or emailed, and then invoiced. It is also necessary to confirm the charges of the shipment especially in releasing the cargo there at the BOC.
Because of the amount of work I did, I lost my mind for a moment about Levi and what happened earlier on the rooftop. “Let's have snacks first,” I said to Joan because my intestines were complaining. Because I couldn't have a decent breakfast at home because of Brent.
Speaking of Brent, he didn't even text me! Is it difficult for you to say hello to me if I arrive at the office safely? How many times have I asked myself if I have asked too much attention from him?
Because for him, he should just focus on me because I'm not only his wife, but I'm the person who shaped him to be what he is today!
It turned out that Lorena had gone to the pantry first and was talking to Camilla while having coffee. As I expected, Levi was still the topic. I looked around at the door because maybe Mr. Chavez. Because they don't want to gossip inside the office. That's not allowed!
“But unfairness, she was beautiful when she was a woman, did you notice?” I asked Camilla and Lorena.
“Of course! Who wouldn't notice even sir, staring at that girl!”
“Hey Camilla, you're being too obvious,” Lorena teased Levi's secretary.
“I just hate him!”
“You have a great fighting spirit with Mr. Chavez, Cams. Has he ever paid attention to you?” I'm the one who asked because I've known for a long time that our Boss likes something.
“I guess he doesn't like the exotics,” he answered laughing and we were also infected by the warmth of his laughter.
“I'm going to go ahead of you guys, you know, it's Monday,” I said to them because everyone knows that Monday is my busiest day of the week.
“Fighting!” Lorena said.
“Hmmm Cams, call Levi and say hello. Maybe what did that man do,” he asked It's okay Camilla because I'm also concerned about that girl's condition!
“Oh, maybe where else is your concern about Levi going? Watch out for that man because everyone who wears a skirt gets punished!” Camilla warned me as if I didn't know what kind of person Levi was.
“Really me? You know I'm still dead to Brent, right!” I said and the two women scoffed at the same time as if they didn't like Brent. “You really belong together!”
“What did you like about that man?” Lorena asked.
I just chose not to answer Lorena's question and went to the pantry. When I returned to my desk, I immediately checked my cellphone, and sure enough, there were missed calls from Brent.
Brent is truly extraordinary! When I had snacks, then called. And he is angry again with his text messages. It is a question of where he is and why his call was not answered.
“Sorry Brent, but I'm busy today,” I replied. I hadn't even put my cell phone down on the table when it rang again.
“That's a dirty job, Kylie! Just resign yourself to that,” he ordered.
“Why do I have to resign?”
“Of course! In order for you to have time for me, you always put in work. If you had prioritized hanging out with your friends, we would have had time for each other,” I answered.
“I'm still to blame?”
