That day, Jong Kook and Ji Hyo were looking at an architectural exhibition of some famous architects. They both enjoy the exhibition together and after they feel tired, the two decide to go to the coffee shop and enjoy conffe together, actually coffee for Ji Hyo and tea for Jong Kook.

         "oppa... wait a minute... I want to go to the restroom " Ji Hyo said Then standing up and went to the restroom.

         After finishing her business in the toilet, the girl washed her hands and returned to her desk to meet Jong Kook who was waiting for her. But somehow, when she returned, Jong Kook's facial expression had changed. His face seemed a little pale and stiff.

         "oppa, gwenchana (are you okay)?"Ji Hyo asked curiously when she saw the difference in Jong Kook's facial expression.

          "you're done, right? Can I go now? I have other business, " Jong Kook said in such a cold tone to Ji Hyo.

        "n..ne ..."Ji Hyo replied stammering.

  

         She is shocked when Jong Kook's behavior suddenly changes just like that toward her. The man didn't seem to care about her confusion and he immediately stood up and left Ji Hyo alone without any explanation.

          "drt...drt...drt..." suddenly Ji Hyo felt a vibration from her phone on the table. She looked at the screen of her cell phone and found an unknown number was calling her.

          "yoeboseyo..."Ji Hyo answered the call.

         "yeoboseyo... Is this Hong Ji Hyo from Seoul University's art department?" asked a woman over the phone call.

            "ne... that's right..."Ji Hyo replied.

             "we are the scholarship committee at "M" University, we would like to inform you of your test results . Congratulations, you have passed the entrance exam for the scholarship program at our university, you can come here next week " explained the woman.

           "je-jeongmal (really) ? Aah... gamsahamnida (thank you), jeongmal gamsahamnida..." said Ji Hyo feels very happy, finally she has been one step closer to her dream.

           Ji Hyo quickly picks up her bag and excitedly goes home to announce the good news to her family. All her family felt very happy for her and congratulated her by giving a warm hug. After Ji Hyo told her family, she entered her room feeling happy. She lay down on her bed and took her phone to call someone. The one with whom she wants to share her happiness together.

           "oppa... You told me to trust my dreams, didn't you? Now, my dream is about to begin!"Ji Hyo muttered excitedly to herself while waiting for that person to answer her phone.

           "he did not answer..."Ji Hyo said resignedly. Her mind comes back to remembering the last time they were together when Jong Kook suddenly left her alone.

          "he looks angry, did I do anything wrong? I think everything's fine today..."Ji Hyo muttered in a quiet voice.

            Since their first meeting at the stationery store, somehow they often cross paths on campus even though they are in different departments. They also often met in the backyard of the campus and then the two began to visit the backyard garden together.

           From that moment on, the two of them became closer  toward each other. Jong Kook is actually a little shy toward any girl and doesn't get along easily with them but with Ji Hyo, he feels comfortable. Ji Hyo's easy going character makes the girl able to become familiar with Jong Kook easily.

           Jong Kook is really polite to all girls, but he never starts a conversation with them first if they don't ask him to talk, but with Ji Hyo, he becomes a nagging guy who can't stop talking.

          Ji Hyo is already like his own sister and they feel comfortable with each other. Jong Kook always shows his concern for Ji Hyo and takes good care of her, but somehow he suddenly becomes cold to Ji Hyo after they spend their time at an architectural exhibition.

          "I'll tell him in person tomorrow at the college then" Ji Hyo looked for another alternative because she couldn't contact Jong Kook. She planned to tell him about the good news tomorrow morning, and then she started to get sleepy.

              The next day, Ji Hyo sees Jong Kook sitting alone in a campus hallway while drawing something in his drawing book.

           "oppa... I want to tell you something " said Ji Hyo excitedly approaching the burly man. Jong Kook, who had previously seemed busy with himself, suddenly stood up from his position when he found out that Ji Hyo had approached him.

            "mianhe (sorry)... I'm busy " Jong Kook said flatly to Ji Hyo. The girl was frozen in her position, Jong Kook had never ignored her like that before.

          "Jong Kook oppa, are you busy? Can you help me for a minute?"suddenly another girl appeared from behind Ji Hyo's back and walked up to Jong Kook. Jong Kook recognizes the girl, she is his junior from the same department.

           "do you need my help?"Jong Kook asked his junior.

           "but... are you really not busy? I saw you were talking to someone..."said the girl looking at Ji Hyo who was observing the two of them from her place.

          "anniyo (no) .. I don't have another schedule right now " Jong Kook said without looking towards Ji Hyo.

             "jeongmal? If so, yes it is... I really need your help at the library..."the girl said excitedly. Jong Kook just smiled then walked side by side with the girl and went to the library letting Ji Hyo left blank alone in her position.

            Another incident when Jong Kook tried to ignore and avoid Ji Hyo didn't just happen once. One day , when they pass the road in the same hallway, Jong Kook again avoids her.

          At that time Ji Hyo was walking with her friend as well as Jong Kook. Ji Hyo wanted to say hi to the man and smiled at him. But when Jong Kook notices Ji Hyo's presence, he suddenly tries to follow the conversation between his friends. He didn't actually pay attention to their conversation before, but he suddenly pretended to be interest on his friend's conversation when he saw Ji Hyo. This makes Ji Hyo get rid of her wish to greet Jong Kook. Somehow, Ji Hyo felt that the man was deliberately pretending not to know her in front of his friend.

            "what mistake have I made? My time is only left for today, I just want to saya my last goodbye to him but why does he keep avoiding me?"Ji Hyo said in her heart.

            She sits alone in the backyard limp, she doesn't know what she should do to respond to Jong Kook's cold behavior toward her. Suddenly at that moment, Ji Hyo saw Jong Kook from a distance who was walking alone in the hallway. Ji Hyo stood up from her position and ran over to the man.

           "oppa... are you avoiding me?"Ji Hyo asked frontally to Jong Kook.

             "I'm not the kind of person who avoids others just because of a small problem" said Jong Kook coldly who kept going making Ji Hyo lag behind him. Ji Hyo keeps trying to speed up her footsteps in order to catch with to Jong Kook.

          "so why? Did I do something wrong?"Ji Hyo asked confusely.

             "it would be nice if you could respect others by hearing them" Jong Kook said expressionlessly leaving a big puzzle in Ji Hyo's mind.

          "What do you mean? Who is someone I need to listen to?"Ji Hyo asked confused. Jong Kook was silent for a while and continued walking.

          "nothing... Just go disappear from my sight, I won't see you" said Jong Kook coldly and faster his pace.

          "oppa you are really annoying!!"Ji Hyo shouted which made Jong Kook stop his footsteps and turned to look at her.

             "if I do something wrong and make you mad at me, just tell me then! Don't act cold so suddenly like this, avoiding me for no reason whatsoever, pretending not to recognize me and never telling me what happened!"said Ji Hyo who has reached the limit of her patience.

            "I've told you a few times but you've never heard it!"said Jong Kook.

             "when... when did you do that? All you ever did was avoid me ? When did you ever try to tell me what the problem was? I really can't understand you oppa!"Ji Hyo shouted in frustration. Jong Kook was silent for a while and looked at her with an unreadable expression.

          "sorry... did I ever ask you to understand me?"Jong Kook asked her expressionlessly in a flat tone. Even though he said that sentence in a quiet voice, his words had made a great destruction in Ji Hyo's heart.

            "even though you never asked me to understand you... but... I want to understand you... Because... We're friends, right? "said Ji Hyo hesitantly looking at Jong Kook's cold-looking eyes.

          "friend? Really?"Jong Kook asked while showing his smirk.

"Well, I think you've misunderstood me, I never said that we are friends, we are just two strangers who accidentally know each other, we have never been friends, only to the extent of knowing" Jong Kook said so cruelly. Ji Hyo is completely incapable of believing what Jong Kook has told her, she never thought that Jong Kook would say that word to her.

         "so... that's why you pretended not to recognize me when you were with your friend? Ignoring me like a stranger like we never knew each other? So... that's your reason? Because you see me as a nobody? Just to the extent of knowing each other? So what does it mean all the things that happened to us all of this time?...."

        "..... You are so cruel oppa! You never even gave me a chance to know what the problem was going on in your mind, but you treated me like I meant nothing! You are a bad person who has no feelings at all!!"shouted Ji Hyo feeling very angry and also hurted. She just wants to change everything and stop their fight by leaving Jong Kook alone. Ji Hyo no longer wants to linger with that man now.

          "mwo? What did you say about me?" asked Jong Kook held Ji Hyo's hand but the girl threw his hand on to the air.

          "don't touch me, You bastard. Napeun namja (bad man)!"Ji Hyo said with sharp eyes.

          "why do you say things like that about me? Do you know me very well? Do you know how I feel? Why do you judge me as you please! Aish jinjaa!!" yelled Jong Kook throwing his hand into the air.

           Without speaking another word, Jong Kook turns around and leaves Ji Hyo alone. The girl simply froze in position with teary eyes. She cleaned her tears violently then turned around and walked quickly to get home as fast as she could.

          When Jong Kook had walked far enough distance, he slowed his pace and turned around. He could see Ji Hyo's back that had already appeared far in front of him. He sighed deeply then leaned against the wall. He stroked his hair in frustration and then saw the empty hallway, Ji Hyo was no longer seen there.

            After Ji Hyo reached her house, she quickly walked to her room and locked the door. She put her body on the bed and face down the pillow to try to hide her face. She cried loudly.

            "nappeun namja! Don't you ever know how I feel? How can you say that I'm nothing and you just know me? You really have a cold heart! I hate you! I hate you!"

          ".... But isn't it enough for you not to have the same feelings for me? Why do you have to add a wound in my heart to what you said? I'm nothing to you? You really are a bad guy! Nappeun namja! Aaahhh!!"Ji Hyo shouted between her cries inside her pillow. She pushed her face into the pillow deeper so that no one could hear her voice.

          The next day is the day that Ji Hyo will go to America. All her family members took her to the airport. Before arriving at the airport, Ji Hyo looks at her cell phone, she is considering calling Jong Kook or not. In the end, she decided to say goodbye through a short message.

            "mianhe Jong Kook oppa, if I have done so much mistakes to you, and for my word yesterday, I am really sorry. I'm on my way to the airport right now, I'll get on the plane soon. If it's possible for us to continue our good relationship for all this time, can you meet me at the airport before my flight? If you do, maybe we can become a real friends from now on " after texting him, Ji Hyo waited for an answer from Jong Kook but she never got any response from him.

          When they had reached the airport, she kept waiting for Jong Kook in the hope that he would visit her for one last time, but she knew, she would never appear in front of him and that was the way how she left Korea with a broken heart and left everything about the man behind her back .
