I was walking in the sunshine. This was undoubtedly the best holiday of my life. Xander spoiled me, showing me love, attention, and toe-curling sex. I have domestic staff at my beck call, and every single thing I ask for, I got.
It was beyond amazing, and I felt like sharing my joy with someone.
However, since I was bound by Xander's privacy rules, I couldn't mention our relationship to anyone, not even my roommate. Even if I had a best friend I could confide in, I still lack the word to adequately describe my experience. I was simply beyond anything I could have imagined. It felt like I made it.
I spent most of my quiet time lost in my thoughts. I started imagining getting married to Xander. Yes. It was no longer a struggle to call him Xander. I could imagine calling him Mr. Xander ever again, and certainly not Mr. Durodola. He was Xander to me, and he was my all. He was my world. I had since abandoned the guest room downstairs and now shared his bedroom. So the way I saw it, the next logical step would be to make it permanent.
The holidays flew by fast, and soon I was a few days away. It was on Saturday and I was to return to school on Sunday morning to resume the new semester. I had no plans for my birthday, I was too consumed with living my best life to be bothered about celebrating it. The day came, and I wasn't surprised to find myself alone in bed. Whenever I overslept, Xander never woke me up. He allowed me to sleep. Well, he was usually the one who kept me up all night, unable to get his hands off me. I headed for a shower immediately, I put on a shirt and a pair of jeans. I was brushing and admiring my lush, gorgeous wave, I had a knock on the door. I went to open it.
"Loucas good morning."
"Good morning, ma, please come downstairs, Mr. Xander wants to see you."
I quickly fixed my hair and jogged downstairs. My eyes widened at the sight of the dining table.
"Good morning my love," I said as I pulled into a hug. What is all this for? Are we celebrating my birthday?"
He opened my palm and lay the keys in it.
"Go outside. The first thing you lay your eyes on is yours.
My heart began to beat faster. It couldn't be what I was thinking, could it?" I didn't dare hope.
I opened the door, and the first thing I saw was a white Toyota Camry with a red ribbon on it. A giant balloon tied to the mirror had "Happy Birthday!" On it. I screamed and screamed, and tears rolled down my face. It was unbelievable; in a matter of months, I had gone from nothing to something. I was just 20 years old with a car and millions in my account. I turned around and flew into the arms of Xander who had followed me outside and was standing there, smiling. I kissed him passionately.
"Thank you so much! thank you, thank you!" I said between kisses. We spent the rest of the day eating, drinking, and making love, and I kept running outside every couple of hours to look at my new car. Xander just laughed.
"You won't be going to school tomorrow," he said. "You need to learn how to drive, so we will use this week to get it done."
The following days, he assigned Mason to me as my driving instructor and asked to make sure I learned to drive perfectly in a week, as he didn't want me to miss another week in school.
"A week?" he asked. Isn't that too short?"
"Don't worry, I trust Mason. And I trust you," Xander said, planting a kiss on my forehead.
Xander was right. By the end of the week, I had learned how to drive perfectly. I returned my brand-new car. Cars were not allowed for students, but Xander had bribed one of the hostel porters to protect me from getting into trouble. Frankly, I didn't need a car because I lived in a dorm but that didn't matter. I drove my car to class every day, and within a week, had become the most popular person in school. Everyone wanted to be my friend. My roommate started kissing my ass, and everyone started being extra nice to me. I relished the attention my success brought to me. I basked in it all. A few weeks after school resumed, I opened an Instagram account, and that was when everything changed. I was pretty and I had a nice car at a young age, so many people were drawn to me, and my popularity brought me a lot of Instagram followers. It wasn't long before I started leaving school with excitement. The porters made the process easy for me. All I had to do was bribe them and I was out. The month went by fast, and before the semester ended it had become routine.
I started skipping classes, sleeping in after partying all night, and often nursing a hangover. Soon, it became clear that I had no idea where my mates were academically, and my roommate was appalled. They found it hard to caution me because we were now a world apart, and I was really in the room with them. I was mixing with girls 5-7 years older than l was, and it was easy to blend in because we were on the same level financially. I found a best friend in Harper, the only person in my new circle who was close to my age. Three years older than me, she was also popular, beautiful, and got a lot of attention. She made me her right wing almost immediately, and we went everywhere together, slaying and partying. Soon after, she introduced me to weed.
My relationship with Xander had deteriorated terribly. I only called him when I needed money, and he never said no. I was living my life for the gram, and the lifestyle consumed me. Most of the time, I was either high or drunk. I had zero interest in academics. As if things couldn't get any worse, I missed my second-semester examination because I was busy partying. That was when I decided to take advice from my new best friend and dropped out of school. Harper had already done so herself and started a business.
The day I told Xander I missed my examination and I wanted to drop out was the worst day of my life. I waited for his two weeks off, and I went to his house to see him. He already knew our relationship was no longer what it used to be, but he was shocked when I explained that I could no longer cope in school.
Could it be the end of our relationship?
