Novel’s POV

I signaled for Alexei and Alpha Dex to leave the room. I could see the heavy reluctance in Alpha Dex’s eyes, he didn't want to leave me alone with her…..but I had to do this myself. I wasn't even sure if my plan would work, but the raw, pulsing ache radiating from the woman on the floor told me I had no choice. I had to try.

The heavy thud of the door closing echoed through the silent room. I turned my attention to the woman huddled on the floor.

“You know he is dead,” I said, my voice steady despite the tightness in my chest.
