Amelia’s Pov

I stood startled and gaped at their flushed and bewildered faces. Their gaze swept over me for the longest while, settling and puzzling. For a while, no one uttered a word or said anything. Only the sound of ragged breathing and hammering hearts could be heard.

The beta’s face contorted into that of anger, “what did you hear?” He asked, face red with promising danger.

“Nothing,” I answered swiftly.
