Andrew looked up. “Anything wrong?”

“Since you think that only certificates could prove one’s capability, let’s bet.”

Selena smiled and stared at him with full provocative intentions.

“Do you dare to accept it?” David Garcia who nearly dozed off from the boring interviews suddenly became energetic. He was amazed as it was the first time he saw someone daring to bet with

Andrew, and even with such an arrogant attitude.

“What do you want to bet? Pretty lady.” With an incredulous look, Andrew turned and threw David a glimpse.

Selena took a deep breath and stared into the man’s deep eyes. She said with strong determination, “I’ll work at the hotel under the Ocean Pearl's Group for three months, and I guarantee the monthly profit would be above thirty percent. If I’ve achieved that, I want the company to employ me as a formal worker and give me triple salaries, also...” She paused and finished her sentence extremely clearly, “You have to apologize to me!”

Her words stirred up a commotion. She had only worked at the Milano Hotel for a year and during her employment, the monthly profit she helped the hotel to obtain was only less than ten percent. How could she be so bold to make such a promise that seemed unachievable?

Andrew Wright closed the folder and tossed it to the side. He stood up, supported himself with both his hands laid flat on the table and slightly stooped. “What if you can’t?”

Selena’s smile grew bigger and she did not have any hesitation. “If I can’t, I’ll work for the Ocean Pearl's Group for free for three years and will always be at your order. How’s that? Are you willing to accept the bet?”

“Of course!” David Garcia chimed in. “Andrew, if you don’t accept that, you’re a coward!”

He shut his mouth up when Andrew shot him a cold glare. “Go back and wait for the job notification.”

After saying that with a low voice, Andrew stood up and went down the stage. His slender legs stopped when he passed by Selena.

He turned sideways and his eyes fell onto the woman’s chin and nose. She had a pleasant but not that kind of strong perfume smell. Interesting. At least she was more interesting than those women.

“As for the bet, I’ll accept it.” After saying that, he strode and left.

“Andrew, where are we having lunch?” Seeing him leaving, David Garcia chased after him in a hurry. Before he left, he turned around and winked at Selena.

He said with a smile, “You’re funny, pretty lady. I hope you’ll win the bet!”

Selena felt speechless, but nevertheless, she had passed the test, and having opportunities would always be better than facing a dead end at all!

It was already noon when Selena finished her interview and went back home with an exhausted body.

“Welcome home, mommy!” Kenzie welcomed her by giving her a big hug. “I’ve memorized all the alphabets and cooked the rice, now I’m waiting for mommy to cook the dishes!”

“Good job, honey!” Selena landed a kiss on the little girl’s cheek.

After washing her hands and cooked, both mother and daughter had lunch together.

When she woke up back then, she was startled for quite a long while when the doctor told her she still had a daughter. The child was tender and adorable. She was reluctant to give her to her hirer, therefore she asked her friend to help her buy a plane ticket and she then went abroad with the little fellow in a hurry. She had even broken her relationship with the Jones family for her.

Although it was tough raising a child at a foreign country, her tiredness vanished whenever she saw Kenzie’s sweet smile. Not to mention her daughter was exceptionally smart and fluent in English. She had started to brush her own teeth and wear clothes herself when she was three, and had helped her to do household chores when she was older. She did not have to worry about her at all even if she was outside of the house.

Kenzie shook her head and said to Stella, “Mommy, why don’t you divorce daddy?” Selena was amused and asked, “Why do you say so?”

“I feel that daddy doesn’t like mommy."

Kenzie bit her vegetable and slurred, “My friend’s daddy and mommy are always lovey-dovey, but I could only see my daddy twice a year. And every time daddy comes back, he’ll only say a few words to mommy. He doesn’t kiss or hug you, what’s most important is that he doesn’t love me. I don’t want this kind of daddy anymore!”

Selena felt slightly uncomfortable. She did not dare to tell her the truth, but she was afraid that she would notice the fact that all the children in her neighborhood all had their father but her. Therefore she sought for someone’s help and asked him to come over to their house every year to let Kenzie know she had a father.

She did not expect her to be that smart and had even thought for her.

Stella then added, “Mommy, you don’t have to think that I’ll be sad after you divorce. Instead of letting you meeting your husband and me meeting my dad once a year, it’s better that mommy find a new husband. As long as the new daddy loves me, I could also accept other brother and sister!”

“Silly girl.” Her words made the rims of Selena’s eyes went a little red. “Mommy doesn’t need any husband; mommy only wants to take good care of you.”

“But I want an elder brother.”

Stella let out a sweet smile. “I want mommy and daddy love me, and an elder brother that loves me like a princess!”

Selena caressed her head and no longer uttered a word. She remembered her eldest son who was taken away by the butler and she wondered how he was doing at the moment. If she could, she really hoped she could meet her son some day in the future and maybe give him a hug.

Catching a glimpse of Selena’s melancholic look, Kenzie secretly swore to get a gentle and handsome new daddy to make her mom happy every day.

That night, Selena received an email from the Human Resource Department of the Ocean Pearl's Group, notifying her to go to the Ocean Pearl Hotel to work next Monday.

As she arranged her stuff, she saw Kenzie fiddling with a tablet and could not help but approach her. “Honey, what are you doing?” Kenzie hugged the tablet in her arms with lightning speed and said, “I can’t let mommy see this, mommy please go away!”

“Alright, mommy won’t see it.”

After waiting for Selena to leave, Kenzie then continued typing the information on the tablet.

She typed in Selena’s name and attached her photo. The bottom right corner of the webpage showed the name of a certain blind date website.

After completing everything, Kenzie stretched herself. The gentlemen she saw today were all okay, but she still liked the one she met at the airport very much! She had thought that he should certainly be with mommy at first sight! Unfortunately she could not find any information about him and she could only replace him with other man at the moment.

Selena had no idea that she had been ‘sold’ by her clever daughter.

The day Selena went to work at the hotel was coincidentally the day of the hotel reaching 20th anniversary.

After a brief introduction to the workers, Selena then started to get really busy due to the celebration event. She stood at the hall and allocated work to the workers upstairs through a walkie-talkie, a layer of sweat was seen on her forehead.

“Selena?” A familiar voice made her froze.

She gradually tightened her grasp towards the front desk. Could it be such coincidence? She turned around and encountered a young couple. The man was tall and handsome. Seeing her turning around, a startled look clearly flashed across his face, while the woman was holding his arm tightly. Both of them looked exceptionally intimate with one another.

Seeing her ex-boyfriend again five years later, it was impossible to say that she did not feel sad at all. Her heart ached greatly.

She clenched her fists tightly to try to suppress her feeling and smile. “Long time no see.”

Anthony Bernardo looked at her with a mixed expression. He moved his lips, wanting to say something, but did not say anything in the end.
