Chapter 6 .

Chapter 6 .

Cassandra felt her heart pounding in her chest as she stood outside Alpha Dominic's office, preparing to confront him. For months, she had been trying to figure out why he had rejected her when she joined the pack, even though she knew in her heart that he was her mate. But now, she had a chance to get some answers.

Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door.

"Come in," Alpha Dominic's deep voice called out.

Cassandra pushed open the door and stepped inside. The office was just as she remembered it - spacious and airy, with large windows that let in the sunlight. Alpha Dominic was sitting behind his desk, his eyes fixed on a document in front of him.

"Alpha," Cassandra said, trying to keep the tremble out of her voice. "I need to talk to you."

Alpha Dominic looked up, and Cassandra was struck once again by his piercing blue eyes. She had always found him handsome, with his chiseled jawline and thick black hair that curled around his ears.

"What is it, Cassandra?" Alpha Dominic asked, his voice cool and controlled.

Cassandra took a step forward, feeling her palms starting to sweat. "I want to know why you rejected me when I first joined the pack."

Alpha Dominic's expression remained impassive. "I'm sure you already know the reason."

Cassandra shook her head. "No, I don't. You never gave me a reason."

Alpha Dominic leaned back in his chair, studying her with his sharp gaze. "You're my true mate, Cassandra. I knew that the moment you walked through our doors."

Cassandra felt a surge of hope in her chest. "Then why--"

"Because I was already in a relationship with Luna," Alpha Dominic interrupted, his voice heavy with regret. "I loved her, Cassandra. And I thought she was my mate."

Cassandra's heart sank.

"I'm sorry," Cassandra said softly. "I didn't know."

Alpha Dominic let out a heavy sigh. "I know. And I've been beating myself up over it ever since I found out. I was blind, Cassandra. I was so in love with Luna that I couldn't see what was right in front of me."

Cassandra took a deep breath, trying to keep her emotions in check. "And now?"

"And now, I know the truth. I know that you are my true mate, chosen for me by the Goddess. And I'm ready to accept it."

Cassandra felt a wave of relief wash over her. All these months of uncertainty and doubt... it had all been worth it.

"I'm glad," she said softly. "Because I love you too, Alpha Dominic."

Alpha Dominic's eyes softened. "Please, Cassandra. Call me Dominic."

Cassandra smiled. "Okay, Dominic. And you can call me Cassie."

Dominic grinned, the first genuine smile she had seen on his face in months. "Cassie. I like that."

They sat there in silence for a few moments, each lost in their own thoughts. Cassandra felt a sense of peace wash over her. They had a long way to go - she knew that. But for now, this was enough.

"I want to bond with you," Dominic said suddenly, breaking the silence.

Cassandra looked up, surprised. "Bond with me?"

Dominic nodded. "Yes. As mates. It's an ancient werewolf ritual - it involves exchanging blood and merging our souls together. It's the ultimate act of love and commitment."

Cassandra felt a jolt of excitement race through her. She had heard of the bonding ritual, but she never thought she would have the chance to experience it firsthand.

"I would love that, Dominic," she said, her voice soft.

Dominic stood up and walked around the desk, extending his hand to her. Cassandra took it, feeling his rough palm against her own.

"Come on," he said, a sparkle in his eyes. "Let's go to the moon garden."

The moon garden was a special place in the pack's territory, reserved for important ceremonies and rituals. It was located on the outskirts of the forest, surrounded by wildflowers and tall grass.

As they made their way toward the garden, Cassandra felt her excitement mounting. This was it - she was finally going to be bonded with her mate.

They reached the garden, and Cassandra looked around, taking in the beauty of the place. The moon was full and bright overhead, casting a silvery light over everything. Large stones were placed in a circular formation, creating a makeshift altar.

Dominic led Cassandra to the center of the circle and turned to face her. "Are you ready, Cassie?"

Cassandra nodded, her heart beating wildly.

Dominic took out a small blade from his pocket and made a cut on his wrist. Blood trickled out of the wound, and he held out his arm to her.

"Drink," he said, his voice thick with emotion.

Cassandra leaned forward and latched onto his wrist, drinking deep of his blood. It tasted metallic and rich, and it filled her with a sense of belonging, of being one with Dominic.

When she had drunk her fill, Dominic made a similar cut on her wrist and drank from her; his eyes locked on hers the whole time.

As they exchanged blood, Cassandra felt a deep sense of merging happening within her. She felt Dominic's presence in every fiber of her being, and she knew he felt the same.

When they were done, they sank to their knees, their hands clasped together in a tight grip. Cassandra felt tears streaming down her face, overwhelmed with the intensity of the moment.

"I will love you, Cassie," Dominic whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "Forever and always."

"I love you too, Dominic," Cassandra said, her voice raw with emotion. "And I always will."

They stayed there for a long time, lost in their own little world. For the first time in months, Cassandra felt complete, whole. She had found her mate, and she would do anything to keep him by her side.
